CVO muffler packing
« on: October 27, 2012, 08:43:13 PM »

Just finished install of Fullsac True duals and 2" CVO power cores on 08 SEUC. Inside of muffler it had a thin 1/8" layer of material that reminded me of fiberglass attached to walls of muffler. is this the packing? I am an old motocross racer and packing to me was like a sheet of fiberglass insulation that would wrap around core.It was completely stock because I had to grind welds out of back of muffler. Sounds awesome to me but to loud for wife. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It's the cheap fiberglass packing.  I had the same set up on my 08 Ultra SE3.  Repacked with the Moose Racing packing, made a difference in sound, less "tinny" produced a nice low rumble at idle.

Here is the packing info.  You will need two 750 gram packs, one for each muffler.

I bought a roll of techmat on ebay, cut it in half lengthwise, and used half in each muffler...

I'm using this stuff

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/14/71/975/17823/ITEM/Vance---Hines-Fiberglass-Repacking-Kit.aspx

Been in the cans for 20K miles and do not notice any changes.
Works for me.
