Downloaded the latest software from MyGarmin last night.  Powered the unit on and off about 20 times today while driving in the car.  It found and played music every time.  I think it's fixed, finally!!

I have the same problem when I use an SD card. I freed up additional storage on the Garmin and moved the music to the GPS and no longer have this problem. However, my unit intermittently shuts off while playing music. Sometimes I can ride all day playing music without a problem and sometimes it shuts down 3 times in a 10 minute period. It is frustrating and Garmin really needs to fix these issues especially given the cost of the GPS.

Did you download the new updates?  It fixed my problem.  There are maps and new firmware.  Make sure you get the new firmware.  It's downloaded by MyGarmin.

I thought that am the only one having this problems, in addition now my GPS "hangs" when playing music, didn't check the new update yet. I was supposed to give it to the dealer on the next service as the bike is still in warranty

Do the firmware update.  I doubt the dealer knows anything about this.  I personally found it to be a pain to install mp3 files on my garmin,  so when I`m on a ride and don`t need the gps,  I bought an extra plastic gps mount cover and velcro`d an ipod nano to it.  Now I can have the ipod nano right in front of me and have access to all 16 gigs of songs with equalizer control as well. Also...16 gigs of songs on the nano results in a much greater number of songs as compared to 16 gigs worth in mp3 format on the gps.  Pair the ipod nano with a preamp from FIIO and you`ll really like the sound quality and volume!

That's what I actually did, but I keep it in the wire dock in the windshield leaving it for 2 or more days until battery is empty. Sometimes I switch also to Radio  & keep it working all day long

the update 4.80 (published 01/31/13) is supposed to adress the matter:

"* Changed battery charging mode to comply with new California energy regulations.
* Fixed an error that caused some SD cards to not be recognized.
* Fixed an error that caused the device to shut down with highly-detailed 3rd-party maps.
* Increased the length of a route that can be calculated in its entirety."

but you can never know  ;)

There is a recent software upgrade from Garmin that fixes this issue.

So far so good on the update. It's remembered my music every time...including my stopping point. Looks like it may have been resolved. :orange:

Is it collecting dust because of the MP3 issue?  Other than that I do like the unit.  I also have my cell phone paired with it.  Of course nobody can hear me going down the road, but I can hear them fine.

Nope, just collecting dust because I can do SO MUCH MORE with the phone.  I have nifty app that brings up a compass, speed, clock, etc.  Shortcuts for skipping through the playlist and such.  I don't have to go through the GPS for the phone either because it is directly connected to a Scala G4 headset.  That works great by the way for phone conversations and talking to my wife on her Fatboy.    :P
