Saved my a$$
« on: August 29, 2006, 07:04:21 AM »

While in Sturgis a few weeks ago at 95* and bumper to bumper traffic, I thought my legs were going to burn off. Some guy at the hotel told me about the new Kuryakyn heat shields for dressers. Needless to say I was waiting at their trailer the next morning when they opened. I bought a new set of "saddle shields" (reflective smoke - $59.99)(looks like chrome) They took about 30 minutes to install (needed to make some minor adjustments to the rubber grommet) They worked GREAT!!! They keep the heat off your under thighs[smiley=2vrolijk_20.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_20.gif]

P.S.

If you decide to buy the heat shields, here's a few installation tips......

You need to install the extended peg in the top forward peg hole of your painted side cover. Use "super glue" not the glue supplied by the manufacturer........ it doesn't hold well.

Also remove the rubber grommet for that peg and cut an X on the back, as the new extended peg will bottom out on the closed back grommet and your painted side cover cannot be pushed back in all the way

It also helped to remove the tank bolt so that you can push the wiring harness to the side to find the hole in your frame to install the other grommet and bolt supplied by Kuryakyn

Just got these heat shields installed - after especially hot day and horrible traffic.  Will test them in the next two weeks while on trip to Faaker See annual bike meeting in Austria.  However, everyone around here who uses them are very pleased.

Will now be thinking about Air Deflectors.

Each time I check the site the list of additional options to buy gets bigger and bigger. Need to work harder and harder.

Rubaga,

I'll save you the $99.99 so you won't have to work so hard this week. The Air Deflectors only go on the front fairing of the dressers. Not a Fat Boy. Unless I've read your discription wrong. It shows you've got an FLHRSEI

Thanks mate but....

I also have an ordinary EG Ultra which I will be selling this winter as I am getting CVO Ultra in March (Red/Black combination).  Have it ordered already.

So...

On fatboy to be honest I have not yet decided what alterations to do.  It actually comes very complete for a daily town ride.
