Can we start a separate topic area for those that want to do that a large majority of the time!?!?

I have only been on this site for a month and half, and I am quickly tiring of many/most threads containing negativity or bitching about the MoCo, their Dealers, Aftermarket manufacturers, XM, or WHOMEVER the thread content discusses.

I come to these threads for a quick defection and break from THE TOPIC TITLE ABOVE, as I hear ranting, b!tching, and whining all day long as an Attorney, and as the owner of a Retail business, as most of you all probably do all day long in whatever your gigs are as well.  

When I come here to this GREAT Web site, I want to read enthusiasm, modification ideas and how-to's, ride routes and stories, about new products, and ANY OTHER FUN things that bring a smile to my face, and give me a break from the business day.

I try to avoid the negative threads on here, but even positive thread titles frequently get hijacked over to negativity about SOMETHING!!

HEY ALL:  REMEMBER WHY WE RIDE!!  For stress relief, camaraderie, and to share our free time with the GREAT PASSION that is being IN THE WIND!!

Can we keep this site more FUN, INFORMATIVE AND FUNNY, and less of this TOPIC TITLE, or I fear me AND MANY others will soon be OUT OF HERE!!

If you hang around long enough, you'll understand that most of the folks on here have a relationship with their scooter(s), dealers, and the MOCO that in no small way resembles a marriage of several years....it ain't perfect, and everybody knows it never will be, but sometimes you still bitch about the ones you love, (your spouse/sisters/brothers/in-laws/out-laws) because you love 'em so much, you want them to be better than they are.  And sometimes they listen and improve, and sometimes they don't.  Doesn't diminish the love.

And, the people on here are like your family...you take the bad with the good, knowing that the big picture is all good.

I have recently just checked the deactivate notification on a few threads and one that I wanted to post on but knew better than to talk about politics or religion with family.

Your observation may likely be why we have a lot of lurkers and not as many active posters.  

I just try to find the good stuff and avoid whatever goes on a tangent I don't care for.  I have even jumped in on a highjacked thread and gotten turned back to the subject, although not too often.

I hope you don't give up on the site though, the more the merrier.

            Welcome to the best damn website on the net. Sorry if I am remiss in welcoming you. Hadn't noticed any of your posts before. Glad to see you have an opinion and are not afraid to express it. You'll fit in well here.We are like family, warts and all.

Craig, I think you may want to review some of the real issues that have stimulated some of the "rants, bitches and whining".  You may not have come across some of these issues in your short time here, but members have actually been able to resolve some very serious and costly problems with the MoCo as a result of their pooled efforts and discussions.  An outstanding example of turning "bitching" into a productive solution was the widespread problem with faulty paint on the majority of '06 CUSE models.  Individually, they recieved MoCo answers ranging from "it's supposed to look that way" to "we'll keep your deposit and sell it to someone else" until extreme pressure was brought upon the MoCo to honorably resolve a very real and damaging problem on a very expensive motorcycle.  In the majority of cases, the faulty paint has now been replaced and without this site and the forum in which to "whine" it would have remained a one on one situation with a global corporation staffed with an excess of counsel.

I suspect that in the near future, you will hear considerable "whining" about 5th gear noise problems in the '07's.  The "whining" will take place because owners will feel as though they should expect more out of a 35k plus investment in a hobby which, in and of itself, lends itself to a very emotional attachment.  In all probability this problem, as well, will be reconciled through the effort of an ownership group rather than an individual being steamrolled.  On a similar note, you will find dealers that have been identified for poor service or treatment of this membership.  Personally, I believe that such "whining" about a documented bad dealer can be of personal benefit to all concerned in avoiding the same treatment.

Like you, I don't log onto this site to hear "bitching and moaning", but when legitimate concerns are being brought forward I think it behoves all of us to attempt to help if we are in a position to do so rather than say "quit your bitching".

Gang, I am ALL ABOUT and ALL OVER "voicing concerns" and "working together" to make productive solutions to REAL problems, and as a Trial attorney, I would be HAPPY to help in resolving those REAL and legitimate issues like paint problems and headset inputs scratching lids, etc.  

BUT, when a thread on ACTIVATING SATELLITE RADIO ends up in whining about "commercials" on XM and how long a subscirption you should have?; and when my post about my excellent warranty handling by my dealer of my recent clutch problems swirls down the drain with MoCo bashing; and when someone starts a thread about meeting with the MoCo and their CVO staff in Sturgis at their request for input, and bitter/negative posts kill/hijack the thread; and when dealers are called STEALERS when only a SMALL FEW are;  and when our CVO bikes have more in additional PARTS ALONE added on (yes at retail, but NOT counting labor) than the additional MSRP charged;

Then I think you can understand how me and (I will bet many) others ON THIS THREAD HERE feel that the rants seem more like those about our POLITICIANS and NEIGHBORS WE WOULD LIKE TO SHOOT than they do about FAMILY MEMBERS WE LOVE AND WOULD LIKE TO IMPROVE!!

There are loads of intelligent, self-made, successful people on here, and I just can't understand the pettiness of some who, like me, HAVE GREAT LIVES and GREAT BIKES that most (sadly) are envious and jealous of.  I just hate to see us acting like those folk and their attidudes on the OTHER Harley forums!!

For some reason, the whole visual with d00d passed out on the floor, brings up thoughts of "Gulliver's Travels", with me, Don, and a couple of others being the Lilliputians (have no idea if that's spelled correctly).
