V/H Slash Cut slip-ons for Breakout
« on: October 29, 2012, 03:26:59 PM »

Hi folks,

I read somewhere on the forum that someone has mounted these successfully on their Breakout(I know that V/H is working on fitment for FULL exhaust systems for the Breakout and they are not out yet), but apparently, slip-ons are working, at least for someone.  There was even a pix posted on this forum of their red Breakout with the slip-ons installed, but I can't remember where the thread is...

Does anyone have V/H slip-ons mounted to their Breakout?  I'm trying to find out what V/H part number they used and if they fit perfectly out of the box or did they have to diddle with them any.

It's absolutely killing me to ride this 110 beast down the street sounding like a Motto Guzi :'(

I understand I won't truly be able to get the motor to breathe properly until a full exhaust and fuel management is available, but this could at least get me through until then.

Thanks for any info you may have

Jeff

This doesn't answer your query but wanted to share that V&H hasn't even begun production on a new fitment because they don't have a Breakout to do any R&D on.  I don't quite understand the dilemna because I currently have V&H Big Shot Longs on my 2011 CVO Softail Convertible with 110 motor . . . and this exhaust system came off of my 2010 Softail Deluxe with 96 ci . ... so why shouldn't it fit on a 2013 Breakout with 110 ci motor?  Am I missing something here?

I agree!

I saw that V/H had a Big Radius for the 2009 CVO Softail Springer, and I figured that should work...it's a 110 motor on a Softail frame, just like the Breakout.

The only thing I can come up with is that maybe the frame mounting brackets on the Breakout are in a different location for some reason?  It is considered a "new model", but why would the exhaust mounting points change from any other Softail?

I could probably take chance and buy an exhaust and it would fit fine, especially slip-on's.....

I think it's interesting that your exhaust worked between different motors: 96 to 100 with no problems...

thanks!

Jeff,

So the standard SE exhaust is that weak, huh? I suppose that should be expected.

I'm keeping an eye on the VH website to see when some slip ons might become available.

Hoping to get the call from the dealer this weekend!

I don't think the exhaust on the Breakout is SE.  There is no "Screamin' Eagle" embossed on the heat shield, and when I go out to the HD site and look for exhaust parts, the SE slip-ons show up as a fitment for the Breakout.

The stock Breakout exhaust sounds pretty tame to me.  A little louder than a 103 exhaust but I attributed that to the larger 110 motor.....

Also, when I look at all the specs it says nothing about an SE exhaust, and I would think that is something they would tout...

I emailed Rinehart customer service about the Cross-Back exhaust for the 2013 Breakout, they replied that any of the exhaust systems for a 2012 softail will fit the 2013 Breakout. I'm going to call Rinehart tech support to confirm this info.

Hoping to get the call from the dealer this weekend!

I don't know how you can be that patient!  They were able to tell me when it shipped, and they always get bike deliveries on Fridays...I went to the dealership that Thursday afternoon...the dealership is on one of my riding routes-I was out on the V-Rod and thought, 'what the heck', and stopped in.  Turns out the bike had arrived about 30 minutes before that and they were unwrapping it...so, hey, maybe yours will get there early too!!

For the mean time get some S&S slip-on's instead. Proven to make great power, great sound and are cheap plus you won't have any trouble selling them if you go with a full system later on.

If they are the same exhaust as stock as a 2009 Springer CVO or as a Rocker ( and I think they are !)

Then any Rocker / Heritage / Nightrain / Softail Custom / Softail standard slip-on muffler will fit no worries

The headers ( AKA Downpipes here in Australia ) are different to all those models I've just listed, but mufflers are interchangeable

That means Khromewerks / Rush / S&S / V&H etc etc all have something available in slip-on that will work for you right away

http://www.epiflex.com/softail07_12.html

In my experience here in Australia slip-ons on the stock OEM headers give the "best bang for the buck " anyways
