As I’ve already made a couple of posts on the forum, thought it was time to say Hi. Living in the UK about 40 miles northeast of London. Had bikes in earlier years (BSA) but this is my first Harley. Had gone to Orlando to watch the last ever Shuttle launch and had seen a bike in the big Harley dealer alongside I 4. Back in the UK, saw exactly the same bike in my local dealer so I guess it had to be. A 2011 CVO Softail Convertible (FLSTSE2) in blue stole my heart. Great bike but not perfect so I have made a few changes. You all know how hot a 110 cu.in engine can run especially in heavy traffic. Have fitted Remus mufflers and an H-D oil cooler and also disconnected the exhaust valve which also takes out the ‘hole’ in the acceleration. Runs much better now but have also fitted a cooling fan just in case. Used a Screamin Eagle super-tuner to re-map the ECU but subsequently had a more comprehensive re-map on a dyno to improve the fuel/air ratio and further improve performance. You might be interested in the figures. All the measurements made ‘at the wheel’, not theoretical or at the crankshaft.
Engine in standard factory fit after just 1000 miles running in:-
Power 73.66 bhp Torque 86.7 ft. lbs.
Engine after fitting Remus mufflers and disconnecting noise/emissions valve and completing basic ECU re-map from Harley using a Super-Tuner.
Power 77.13 bhp Torque 98.64 ft. lbs.
As above plus comprehensive re-map using a Dyno
Power 86.7 bhp Torque 109.72 ft. lbs.
This represents a 17.74% increase in power and a 26.55% increase in torque over the standard factory fit.
Other changes include a CeeBaileys windscreen which is 4 inches taller than standard, an H-D Air Wing luggage rack and Sissy Bar bag plus ‘Moustache’ engine bars. Biggest problem I had was trying to fit passing lamps. It seems Harley don’t make a suitable bracket to fit my bike. In the end I found a shop that specialises in fabricating stainless steel so I made a cardboard template and the steel was laser cut using that. Welded and polished it does a great job and looks good. Certainly won’t see another like it! Will post some photos but might need a couple of goes!
