Modifying front forks...
« on: October 30, 2012, 04:55:31 PM »

How hard is it to install the Harley Premium Ride Double Cartridge in the front forks (part #45500106)?

I've done cams, compensator sprocket, rear tire... etc.  Is this something that can be tackled DIY?

Thanks in advance,
Mal

Get progressives cartridge instead. I did mine without an issue. Start forward.

If you have done all this before the front fork tubes will be a piece of cake
I'll offer this
When I change the components in the tubes I do not fill will fluid until I get the fork tube cap installed
I don't have a spring compression tool so I had to come up with another game plan
I have used a table vise to securely hold the cap in with the threads facing up
I then screw the tube onto the threaded portion of the cap
After this portion is done then its time to put the fluid in...
The fluid can now be done on the bench or in the bike...your call
By doing it this way I know the amount of fluid I have in there so when the time comes I can just drain and add new fluid...
FWIW

I bought the Ricor Intiminators, did you install them yourself?  I'd like to get started on the install soon.
