« on: November 03, 2012, 10:00:22 AM »

 Questions
just wondering if I can install the 2.0 " cores and do the engine breakin, or should I wait til the engine is broken in, then do the full install of the fullsac stage one.

 Thanks

I put on the head pipe, cores, and TTS before taking possession of the bike.  Make sure you do the head pipe ( X C-pipe) as you want to get rid of the catalytic converter.  I wouldn't just do the baffles.  The objective is to get the engine to run cooler and an added benefit is higher HP and torque.  Get rid of the cat!

It really doesn't matter when you do it.  There's no advantage to "breaking in" the motor prior to changing the exhaust system out.  If you just wanted to do the cores to get a more robust sound, you could do that without mods to the ECM.  But if you want it to run right, do the X pipe, cores, and TTS.  Not only do you get better sound and a cooler engine, but the driveabilty is vastly improved as well.

Seems like the best thing for me to do is to install the Stage one Sleeper kit, Break the bike in with the stage one and enjoy the ride.
   Thanks for the reply's

I did the full conversion first and one advantage is you do not have to fight so badly with the stock baffles with a grinder in order to install your 2" baffles. Everything comes apart a bit easier when it is new and not 'cooked'. You need to also decide if you want to wrap the new ones or leave then without the wrap.

Having things come apart easier was one of my main reasons, at first I  just wanted to do the cores , but from reading the reply's to this thread the lights have come on and it makes sense to do the fullsac stage one . Bike has only four kilometers on it and is stored for the winter now so I have some time to get it right.
As for the wrap i'm going to re-use the wrap from the SE Cores I have been told and have read that they can sound  tinny if one does not wrap em.

One advantage in waiting and running with the stock parts is that when you do make the switch, you will really appreciate the difference. I've done it both ways, but when I had the new exhaust & header pipe installed before I picked the bike up, wished that I had something to compare it to.

Hi, noticed you in Canada. Where did you purchase your fullsac exhaust?
