Funny, that's exactly what happened to me.  It was a red one (no irony there).  Eyes were drawn lower first though.  The lowers and the bags, speaker grills everywhere.  As I looked up was almost surprised by the windshield.  From the perspective of lower to higher it was just out of place.  Had to think about it for just a sec before realizing it was the new Road King.
Wife really liked the Blue Road King, windshield did not bother her since she has never rode solo on a bike with a Batwing, she didn't know what she has been missing.lol

I would have to say the SE Dyna's are the ones I seen stay on the show room the longest and they don't seem to hold their value.

I think if it's not a bagger SE it better be something unique that you cant get on another model or make something close to it.

But it's never had lowers or speakers.  :nervous:

Street glides never had lowers, until the CVO with all the speakers.

That's fine.  I disagree with me often too.

It's simply a perception.  The lowers, all the onboard audio and a few other accessories are very un-Road King.  To me, the first impression of this bike is more Street Glide than Road King.  It's definitely a hybrid.  Remeber commenting on the day of release or shortly thereafter that it was a "Street King" rather than a Road King or a Street Glide.  That's still the impression it has on me.

Street glide never crossed my mind.  Could be that I am not a fan of the street glide.  Only touring bikes I really like are the King which I always thought would be the first touring bike I owned and the Road glide.  However the Road glide was the first touring bike I have owned, and have had a couple before buying this king.

If I could buy what I wanted I might buy one for a fun second bike but would not get rid of my Ultra.
That is exactly what it is going to be for me, a fun second bike.  Not getting rid of the 12 CVO Roadglide.

I'm still thinking Mother Harley missed the boat by not Christening an entirely new model line just for the CVO series.  The Street King could've been easily marketed and it's new level of uniqueness would have got guys to buy.  But instead it's just a gussied up Road King that might need to go on a diet.  :huepfenlol2:

When debating getting the CVO King, I was also thinking about removing the lowers.  Still think a little about it.  Just not sure I could hear the tunes without the lower speakers.

Man....not sure about you guys.  I'm actually putting lowers on my Road King.  For the sole purpose of holding speakers......and the fact that I like the way they look.

To me the new Road King just looks bottom heavy....again, my opinion.  There's just so much going on "low" on that bike and needs either the Bat or the Shark to offset all of that...did I mention that this is my opinion?  Having said all that, I still like the colors and do like the RK, just not one for me.  I'll stick with Ginger......

As for the topic of discussion on demand and such, wonder if the Breakout will continue as a CVO exclusive or, and pardon the pun, breakout into the regular softail line-up for 2014?  Also, the 2010 Fat Bob (a two hit wonder) wasn't a big seller and if I remember correctly, they only made 400 or so total for the three colors.  I remember a Blue with the hellfire flames sat on the showroom floor of K'ville HD for quite a while (and yes, I should have got that one...missed it).

While the Springer was a three year bike, I don't remember seeing very many of them out on the street, at least in the East Tennessee area.  It was a great bike, too.  Same goes for the VRod at almost 5,000 units spread over two years.  I have yet to see one in person.

Favorite of all the years besides what I currently have in the garage?  That would have to be a toss-up between two 2010 models.  The Blue Fat Bob and that Crimson mist/dark slate FLHTCUSE that came out late in the model year....that is one, purdy scooter.  I have not seen one of those in person, either.  By the way, anybody on the site have one?

I do not know what i would call it, maybe a station wagon. No good as a car and no good as a truck.
For me, They would have to get rid of the Speaker Lids, thos awful lowers and that windsplitter.
Then maybe I would see a RoadKing again.

Saw a Blue and a red at same dealer. Definitely liked the red better and would take either one of the badged 110thAnniversary edition .

I know this is a very subjective question, but if possible I would like to get an unscientific answer.  Which model CVO('S) have been historically more in demand? Or less? And if you have an idea why that would be great..One reason I ask is that for example I read an article somewhere that said "CVO Soft Tail Convertible" were hard to push out the door...etc.  Yet from my vantage I believe All CVO'S are sold out each and every year...Thus my question..

Thanks for all your thoughts!  Stan

Well if everyone who has been around since the CVO's were released can remember. In 2003 at the dealer meeting the MOCO unveiled the 2004 SEEG in two colors. The B/B was the first to be released. Within 4 days most were spoken for around the country. There was a waiting list for both colors. Even at 28,495.00 it was kinda salty in price, but people were laying down a grand to hold theirs. I got an O/B and was lucky. I just happen to be sitting and talking to the sales manager at Battley HD when the guy called and said he could not get financing. Yes I still have Ole Punkin and still ride her every now and again.

I think the 2004 SSEG's sold out faster than any other CVO in the history of the CVO program.

Year to year.....the most in demand (they never set on the floor more than a few days at most.....most of us had ordered them far in advance) were the 04 and 05 SEEG.  So much in demand that the MoCo started a whole new model based off the SEEG and that was/is the Street Glide. :2vrolijk_21:

I still regret not buying an '05 "banana"... Do love my '10 Spiced Rum to which I've added lowers.

Exactally JC!!!! No science needed. It was by far the best of the best. I know you don't ride any longer, but after you bought the Blue Street Glide and sold your SSEG. DID YOU EVER MISS IT????
I have thought about selling Ole Punkin a couple of times, but I just can't bring myself to do it!!!!

I thought I would miss it much more than I did.  The handling on the new bikes (09 and up touring) is just so much more improved.  At one time I posted something like going from a tractor to a Cadallac.

I quit riding due to back/leg pain issues.  Thought I'd really miss it a hell of a lot, too.  But surprisngly, not as much as I thought I would.  That may be because it was a conscious decision for me and not due to some other reason (bike totalled in an accident, etc.). :nixweiss:

I've had a number of people offer to loan me one of their bikes and every time I think about getting back on a bike my head immediatly recalls the the pain that I used to ride with.  No.....I'll pass and keep the pain down to a manageable (without drugs) level. :2vrolijk_21:
