Most and Least In Demand CVO'S?
« on: November 03, 2012, 12:58:01 PM »

I know this is a very subjective question, but if possible I would like to get an unscientific answer.  Which model CVO('S) have been historically more in demand? Or less? And if you have an idea why that would be great..One reason I ask is that for example I read an article somewhere that said "CVO Soft Tail Convertible" were hard to push out the door...etc.  Yet from my vantage I believe All CVO'S are sold out each and every year...Thus my question..

Thanks for all your thoughts!  Stan

I can remember CVO Fatboys on the dealer floors nearly a year after their model year had passed.

My scientific research would lead me to believe the models most repeated were the most in demand and those less repeated would be in less demand. :book: :smart: :scholar: :alcohol: :laugh3:

If you count the '04/'05 SEEG (predecessor to the SG's) and the SESG ('10,'11, & '12) that's 5 years of that particular model which would be tied for second place with the only model w/more years being the SEUC.

Yeah, I guess you have a point there, but Considering the Ultra was sooo popular, they really dropped the ball with the '12 paint schemes (my opinion....but I'm obviously not alone).  They made less of the '12 Ultras than the previous few years, and still can't seem to sell them.  There seems to be a blue/silver and an orange/black in every dealership I walk in to.  I'm thinking dealers will have to start dropping the prices on those ones considerably when they're sitting next to the '13s.  All things considered, I'd take a '10 or '11 over either of those two years though.

Would that mean that the "Road Glide" 2000, 2001, 2009, "Road Glide" Glide 2011, "Road Glide" Custom 2012, and this years "Road Glide" Custom 2013 would be the SECOND highest demand. That's six years.  :nixweiss:

The newest Road King is as much Street Glide as it is Road King.  Some definite inbreeding going on there too.

Saw one of the new Road Kings on the dealer floor last week.  Seeing it my first thought wasn't "Road King."  Had to look twice when in person to know for sure what I was looking at.

Common ancestry and the same bike with just more gadgets thrown in.  That, however, makes mine the GrandpaGlide.... I'm not telling the bike that.  It would be incredibly offended.

Seems to me, the FLHRSE would be 5 years with out having to combine two different designations.

And using your logic, the Road Glide would be 5 years two if you use the FLTRSE 2000, 2001, 2009 and the FLTRC 12 and 13.

I disagree.  No fairing.  Road king has always had bags, hard or leather covered.  Speedo is still on the tank.

Sort of like saying the street glide is like the road glide.

They all share the same frame and engine, and tank, and bags.

That's fine.  I disagree with me often too.

It's simply a perception.  The lowers, all the onboard audio and a few other accessories are very un-Road King.  To me, the first impression of this bike is more Street Glide than Road King.  It's definitely a hybrid.  Remeber commenting on the day of release or shortly thereafter that it was a "Street King" rather than a Road King or a Street Glide.  That's still the impression it has on me.

Now that you mention it, when I saw a blue one a few weeks ago, I didn't realize it was a new Road King until I saw the too small and strange looking windshield (my opinion). If I could buy what I wanted I might buy one for a fun second bike but would not get rid of my Ultra.

Funny, that's exactly what happened to me.  It was a red one (no irony there).  Eyes were drawn lower first though.  The lowers and the bags, speaker grills everywhere.  As I looked up was almost surprised by the windshield.  From the perspective of lower to higher it was just out of place.  Had to think about it for just a sec before realizing it was the new Road King.
