Anybody have one of these. http://www.adaptivtechnologies.com/gear/

I've got one.  It's nice because it is waterproof - and they offer a vibration damping mount for it.  It works better than nothing, but does not have the distance of the Valentine I use in my vehicle.  My riding buddy has a MOCO radar detector.  I always hear his go off before mine goes off.  I wish Valentine or Escort made a cycle version...

Once you experience the arrows in a Valentine 1, you will never go back to a regular RD.  I even use mine on the bike too, and I can't tell you how many times it has saved me from cops trying to sneak up behind you.  It's particularly tough on a bike because it's hard with the wide angle mirrors that make it impossible to make out the vehicle type until they are well within radar range.  Nothing wrong with an Escort, and I think overall the sensitivity is about the same, but the arrows feature take the Valentine 1 to a whole nother level.

But it's no longer available...   :(  (I don't think so anyway...)

I agree...

The other nice thing about the Valentine is you can send it back in for updates as they further develop the technology (at a nominal cost).

You're right about that. I've sent mine in twice over the years, and the last time, they send a whole brand new one with the latest bells and whistles for a little over $100. That put a nice smile on my face!

What's the process for sending it back?  I've got one I bought in '05 that's never been updated.  Got hit with laser in '08 and haven't used it since (just one ticket on the bike since that time), but still wouldn't mind getting it updated.

BTW - If you delegated the V1 to the drawer after a laser ticket, I've got bad news for you. While the V1, Escort, and many others will pick up laser, the problem is, the technology is such that it renders the alert worthless.

Visualize laser as a red laser light.  The officer will sight in the vehicle, often shooting for a front license plate or grill, and blips the trigger. The second you get the alert, he's got your speed - meaning you have zero warning.  Furthermore, the beam is so narrow and undisbursed, that he can shoot the car next to you, and your RD will usually not go off, unless there's a reflection.

The good thing is, most officers must be stationary, with the gun in their faces, targeting each vehicle individually, and the action is burdensome. Lazy cops need not apply.  As such, if you keep out of the left lane as much as possible, know how to use blockers, and speed down when alone, you can largely avoid laser tickets, as cops will usually target the more obvious vehicles. The cool think is, there are plenty of knucklehead speeders out there that most cops don't have to work that had to fill their 'quotas', so just learn to blend in.

Exactly.  It picked it up, alright .... at the exact time I was getting shot.  It was a woman motor officer on an H-D, so I tried to talk bikes with her, but she wasn't having any of it.  81 in a 65, guess I had it coming.  I wasn't paying close enough attention, looking down at the radio, or something, I forget what.  I should've seen her before she got me.

Drive that same road multiple times each month and never have seen another :police: .

Thats why you might want to consider one of these.

Rayson - You do know that every major testing reviewer has pretty much labled RMR as highly ineffective in all phases of operation, boardering on trash, right?

Do a search on "Rock Mountain Radar Reviews" and take a look yourself.

Yikes!  $199 + shipping to upgrade! :o

About half price vs. a new one...  Not something you'd do on a regular basis, but worthwhile if significant improvements/upgrades can be had...   ;)
