SEPST Reflash Problems
« on: November 07, 2012, 01:38:13 PM »

Through the course tunes and rebuilds I have accrued a TTS Master Tune and SEPST for my bike

I was doing some Vtunes using the TTS over the weekend which we seemed to be going well.

I really like the split screens of the SEPST for ease of front and back cylinder comparison,  So I down loaded the Map and made a couple slight changes to the tune.

Now for some reason, I am unable to Reflash the ECM using the SEPST.  The SEPST connects to the bike and all is green, but when I click the
"Program ECM Cal" button"  I get a splash screen that say "Reflash Aborted, Check connection......and check that Ignition and Run switches are on"

I am however able to to Reflash the EMC from VCI(SEPST Turner)...this works OK.

Anyone has any ideas of what happened!  I would really like to reflash the SEPST map to the ECM

I am a little confused with what you've posted.

IF you have used the TTS unit to tune and use Vtune with you would need to return the bike to the original tune prior to the SESPT being able to retune it.

Not sure if this answers your questions but if not ask what you need and we can try to answer you.

You are right Steve....I reflashed over my resent TTS Vtune using the SESTP VCI as part of the trouble shooting process.

I did save the earlier VTuned map created for the TTS and plan on reflash the .MT8 tune this weekend.

I was just concerned if by switching between turners could/would cause issues like I experienced.

Thanks

Steve

"There is somewhat of a downside to the MT8s.  Once one installs an MT8 file... a dealer can NOT flash the ECM back to stock... it won't work.  The ONLY way to flash back is using Mastertune to flash back."

I found this quote in another thread..could this be my problem....I did reflash a MT8 file.  Does this mean that my SEPST in now inoperable?

If you install a TTS calibration it will not allow you to flash over it with another tuner until you return the ECM back to the original calibration you saved before installation. This is done to protect your ECM as TTS writes it's own code and it is not compatible with others some of the time, so we had a choice, allow others to over write the TTS Code and possible screw up the ECM and have it no longer work or stop them from doing it in the first place. We chose to stop them up front and give you the customer a safe way to return the ECM to the configuration prior to the TTS being installed.
