Exhaust system question
« on: November 11, 2012, 04:23:22 PM »

I own a 2011 CVO Road Glide with a 110" SE engine.  I am running V&H Power Dual pipes and the Thunder Max tunable EFI system.  I am currently running the original factory SE mufflers, but I am looking at possibly making a change.  I do NOT want a system that makes me deaf or makes it impossible to hear my radio, but an improved exhaust note and performance would be a nice thing.

I have looked at the Fullsac replacement replacement muffler cores as well a various slip-ons.  The Fullsac system seems pretty decent and affordable.  I tried a set of V&H Monster Ovals (as I used on a previous 96" motor), but they resonated so badly that one round around the block about killed me!  I put some miles on the bike, so lots of noise won't cut it.

Sharing your thoughts and experience would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Sgt. Earl

+1 on the Fullsac 1.75"  - nice and mellow at idle, just the right sound under power and they don't resonate like the V+H mufflers(I had these on my '06 Ultra). no  angry neighbors and you can still hear the stereo.

The Vance&Hines Monster Rounds are much quieter than the Ovals. I have them along with the Power Duals. I can hear my stereo fine.

Welcome to the site from East Tennessee and fulsac makes a good product for do-it-yourselfers.  May I also suggest keeping the SE mufflers and making the modifications listed on this post in intake/exhaust/ecm section

Sarge, may I also suggest going to the new member introduction page and introducing yourself.  Great picture of you with your CVO, by the way.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

2.25 too loud?

I changed from the 2" to the 2.25" after my motor build. Not too loud at all. I have over 18000 miles on em this year. The sound is lower, more bass.  Slightly louder but not much. Still quieter than most aftermarket exhaust I've compared it to such as Rinehart TD, BUB 7 TD, D&D Fat Cats, etc.

However, based on my conversations with Steve George, if the motor is stage 1 I'd stay with the 2".  FWIE
