FLHTCUSE5 - What should it come with
« on: November 11, 2012, 10:47:36 PM »

Good Morning!

I have just pulled the trigger on a pre-owned 2010 SE Ultra. The bike is in Cape Town, and I am in the Middle East. I am probably going to be out here till Xmas :-(
I need to know what the bike came with when new. When I asked the stealer he said "..not to worry, it's all there." I think he doesn't know/care, so I want to get an idea what I should be seeing. Presentation key? Bike Cover? Headsets? Please could anyone who has one of these chip in?
I would also appreciate any advice. Apparently the bike has a Rush exhaust and has had a "race tune".
Thanks in advance for any info.

Cheers,

Peggers

Thanks for the feedback, guys.
Crappy Hinges - check! >:(
The first thing I saw when I got the pictures. Anyone have the part number for the proper shiny smooth billet replacements?
 - I reckon it's a no-brainer that I should get the stealer to replace those before I see the bike in the flesh!

Used bike, it comes with whatever the previous owner turned back in to the dealer.

Least that has been my experience.

Thanks Chaos,

I take your point. I am not about to back out of the sale if it's not there. As I said before, the dealer said "not to worry, it's all there". I would like to know what I could expect - best scenario. If I don't know, and I don't ask, maybe I won't get.

The bike has 10K miles, and I am paying $30k on the nose. I get one year unlimited warranty, roadside assistance and the usual membership with HOG, local and international. That also includes top of the range fully comprehensive insurance, and a "chrome" policy, which covers  the the shiny stuff, and for some reason, tyres, for five years. As the tyres wear out, they replace 'em. There have been the very occasional FHTCUSE bikes come up for sale cheaper privately, but this one coming from the dealer has these extra covers, which give me a bit more, in the long run. I have known the principal shareholder in the dealership since he started it in around 2004.

Fred, thanks for that part number. Really good looking bike you have there! What do they call this colour combination?

So far I know for sure that we have:
Rider's backrest
Tour pac liner
Saddlebag liners
2 keys
1 key fob
Matching highway pegs
Crappy hinges!

Unknown are:
Presentation key
2nd key fob
Headset
Bike cover

As I say, my son is due to go around and take some more pics for me, and to check on these things. When it comes down to it, if that's all I get, then I am still a happy chappy.
Cheers,

I would really push to get the "gold key" as it's keyed to fit this bike.  While you hope the previous owner is an honest person, if they are not OR the key is in the wrong hands at the dealership, they would have an open invite to steal your new HD.  There are a few posts concerning this subject on the site if you want to research.

Final update:
I sent my son around to the dealership yesterday, and he took a bunch of hi-res pictures to whet my appetite (I now have a seriously good screensaver). He says that the bike is every bit as good, if not better than the pictures.
The dealer responded to my queries and comnfirmed that they have;
1 x riders backrest                   Yes
1 x set matching highway pegs  Yes
1 x CVO Gold key                    Yes
2 x Keys                               Yes
2 x remotes                           Yes
1 x headset                           Yes Has two headsets but only 1 cable to connect from helmet to bike
1 x CVO bike cover                  Yes
1 x Tourpak liner                     Yes
2 x Lower liners                       Yes
1 x Soft baggage for tourpac      Yes
2 x Soft baggage for saddlebags   Yes
1 x Toolkit                                 Yes
Owners manuals                          Cannot find it but one will be supplied
Navigation CDs                             No, would suggest buying a GPS as the one to use on the radio screen is not great.
Crappy tourpac hinges  ;)  which I have already authorised the changeout with the "Premium" chrome billet type.

I have a wish list an arm long, but for now I will check out the forum to see if there is anything difficult about a retrofit of the Garmin Zumo 660 to this model of bike. If any of you have done it, please feel free to contact me, I would appreciate the benefit of your experiences.
I will get to ergonomics, power and more chrome once I have been back home and ridden her.
Cheers,
Peggers

The Garmin Zumo 660 should already be included with the bike. So I'm not sure what you mean by having to use one on the radio screen. Maybe it's not on one from South Africa?

This is the 2010 model - I am pretty sure it didn't come with the Garmin Zumo 660.
