I've thought so Jerry.  That they'll fail is a certainty.  The only question is when and how much damage will be done when it happens.  Even if they are (relatively speaking) somewhat long lived they're still not going to outlast the rest of the engine.  Of they are all too often not terribly long lived.

Having said that, a lot of bike owners don't ride a great deal.  20-25K might not occur until well after the warranty period has expired for most bike owners.  So for most bike owners it'll be a cash job.  So, unfortunately, don't ask and don't tell....

Yes I have found out the hard way about the large variences. Some are dealers some are stealers. If you call and ask for a price and they give you a flat rate without asking year and model BEWARE.
