You don't necessarily have to use a Harley dealer at all.  There are plenty of independent shops that are approved to perform ESP repairs, call the ESP folks and ask for a list of approved shops in your area.

Jerry

Jerry is correct.  I use an independent shop where my Harley mechanic works and they are approved to do all extended warranty work.

Here's my take on it.  I never buy warranties on anything.   If I had bought warranties on all of my bikes, electronics, appliances, etc... I would have spent at least $10K over my adult life.  I once got burned for $495.00.  I paid it with a smile.  A warranty is like insurance; if you need it you win but in the long run most people lose.  If you take proper care of your bike and maintain it then you should be ok.  Just my experience.

I have the ESP on my bikes, least the ones I ride a lot and it has paid for itself several times over.

If you ride much the ESP is like pre-paid repair at a significant discount.

I am 100% with you!!! I am in the auto repair business and when customers ask about extended warranties, I always tell them save their money, it will cost them less to just fix what breaks than it will be to buy an extended warranty. And most of the time, the warranty company finds a way to tell you "that's not covered" when something does break. Seen that a dozen times a year too. I had the same attitude toward my SESG until I read so many horror stories about the lifters, compensators, voltage regulators, amps, speakers, radios, hell wheel weights falling off and trashing a fender, etc. etc. I think 375.00 per year for the next 5 years is an insurance policy I am willing to
gamble on.

I think I'm with you Krypto. For about a dollar a day I can have peace of mind for the next 5 years. Seems to be pretty cheap insurance so I don't have to worry. I'm going to give Jim at Kutters a call..........

I ride 12000 per year. Bought the extended  after 2 years because of all the issues. I have saved at least 7000.00 bucks maybe more. Low milage riders may  not need it . I have friends with 8 yr old bikes with 15000 mile no problems but if you ride you need it Harleys are fun but not sound products. I would never buy a car with that many problems but I cant find any bike that looks rides or is as much fun to change as a Harley    I have never bought an extended warranty on any thing else in my life  and I am way ahead by taking good care of things. But harleys no matter how hard you try they will break.  Billy

Well their are goods and bad.If you just take the wheel and rim and with all the stuff on roads ,holes and water in wheel bearings ESP could pay for itshelf with just one mishap no matter how great you take care of your bike. I never buy warrentys on anything but my harleys and so far it has been money saved from paying stealer . If you don't mind a bill small or big don't buy ,if you don't wanna worry about getting bike fixed from problems .

Kutter's HD  saved me about $650 on a 7 year warranty when I included that I didn't need to pay tax on it from Kutter's.  I pretty much broke even on my last warranty all in the 3rd year on my last bike.  On my new bike, I went through an engine replacement already while in factory warranty, but I would crap my pants if I had to pay for that out of pocket if I go through something like that after the warranty is gone.  I don't buy warranties on anything else, but apparently I don't have complete faith in Harley.

Just want to know, what's wrong with the 110's?   IMHO, they're solid engines.  I've had 80's, 88's, 96's, 103's, 110's, 117's and 124's.  The 117 is an S&S but the others have all be Harley's.  I've done Stage 4 on most of them and never had a single issue.  Most of the work has been done in the driveway and not at the dealership.  Am I missing something?
