I saw this motorcycle and got real interested in it but I have concerns about the billet 131 motor.  It was manufactured by H&L who is no longer in business.  So I am hoping if any one has an option on this brand of motor that they would share them with me.

I assume that if I have a problem with the motor it would be very costly to if not impossible to get parts for it….if this is the case….would I be able to drop in an S&S motor without have to do any major modification to the frame ect……

Also, do you think this bike was made to ride or one of those bikes made for shows and not really meant to be ridden?
Anyway, any and all comments on whether to buy this bike or not will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Well, your first clue should be the bike is an 2006 with only 500 miles. :nixweiss:

That really is a great looking scooter but at $20,000 it's:
an '06 with 500 miles on a motor from a company that is no longer in business and a 6 year (7 model years) old bike you have no history of.  Pretty or not, might be something to walk away from....my two cents

Take the $20K and spend it on a good, used CVO (Deuce/FatBob/vRod)....again my two cents....that's 4 cents total for this reply so I'm over budget...

They have lowered their price to $14,500...if that make any difference  :nixweiss:

Ask to ride it for an hour and see if it is comfortable for you (assuming you plan to ride it). Looks like a nice bike. Take it to someone who knows motors and see if you could drop another motor in there if this one fails then subtract the price of the motor switchout from what you feel the bike is worth to you and offer that to the seller.

It's all about making you happy.

It's a nice looking bike.  I wouldn't be too concerned about why it only has 500 miles on it with regards to reliability of the engine.  A lot of people buy bikes, especially bikes like that, as an impulse buy, and then only ride them to the local bar on bike night or whatever.  If memory serves me, and that is suspect, that company made "drop in" motors.  It would be pretty easy to take it to an indy shop and make sure the mounts are the same, etc., just in case.

IMO, bikes like those are pretty, but not real practical for riding a lot of miles...that's really not their purpose.  For local riding, or shorter day trips, depending on your stamina, it would be fine.

What would the cost of a new S&S/HD Crate motor run based on the new price of $14,500 if you had to replace?  I agree with Buy and Midnight on this, too...ride it and see.  Got a Dentist next door to our office has a straight out chopper style (don't know what...OCC or something other) and rides it on trips so it's possible but gotta agree with Midnight...this would be one for short trips and such...OK, another 2 cents so I'm 6 cents total into this....gotta stop... ::)

That is one streeeeeetched MC.  :'(. Have you sat on it?  Can you reach the controls ok?  It is very pretty but not practical for much more than riding to your local tavern.  :-\  8)  :D

Looks like an EVO style engine.  Be prepared for some serious vibration.

Interesting reading from V-Twin Forum.

Greg, interesting read.  Looks like Wildwade got his answer but I wonder if the dbent ever got his H&L powerhouse fixed?  From all that thread, however, looks like there is still a bit of customer service (if you can find them) from Joe or Tom (probably Joe).  Still would be a hard time for repairs on the H&L for the bike in this thread I would think... :-\

I did take it for a test ride.....seemed to ride well, wouldn't want to ride cross country and yes it did vibrate.

No turn signals, speedometer or horn, also have to reach down with your hand to put the jiffy stand down.

Bottom line in my opinion, if you like it and can afford it, screw what anyone else thinks. do what makes you happy, you only live once! :huepfenjump3:

I want to thank everyone for there insight and advise.

I offered them 13K for the bike which for me seems fair.

Let you know what happens.

Thanks Again
