Tribal Orange: it keeps getting better!
« on: December 05, 2012, 08:09:54 PM »

Well I've been searching for several years for that feeling you get when you see a new bike that really trips ones trigger and thanks to RacerDJ's "in the Sun" photo's posted here I thought this could be the bike. I showed his pictures to the wifey and she said "wow I could see you buying one of these"....a week later we both saw one at a dealer that was sold and we both new if/when I found one available sometime before Spring I would probably buy it.

Last Saturday I walked into Performance HD in Syracuse and they had signs all over the place advertising their December 10% off Sale on all new and used bikes in stock. In discussions with the Sales Manager I learned that they would honor the sale on CVO's and they just happened to have a Tribal Orange in Detail that had just come off the truck. That was about all it took 10% off MSRP (~$3800) and fair market value for my trades (09 Ultra & 04 SEEG) which saved me another $2700 in sales tax and the deal was almost done. (I know I know a CVO under MSRP and I hesitated..... :nixweiss:)

I say almost done because I wasn't prepared for the moment or expecting to buy a new CVO that day, plus I was struggling with parting with both my current bikes (wifey's only requirement) which I remain quite fond of....long story short I finished up the paperwork and dropped off my trades earlier today and will pick up the new bike on Friday once they finish prepping it.  :orange:

Now its on to working on the mods before Spring gets here! BTW they have a Red 2013 CVO Road King on the floor and available for $27k if anyone is interested.....I think I heard it whispering TwoLanes name as I was leaving.  :2vrolijk_21:

If I was at the "touring" stage of my life this is one of the two bikes I would want to get (kryptonite street glide being the other).

The bike is home, well actually still in my trailer as it was cold and rainy here today.  :orange:

Photo's will be forthcoming in the next few days after I reattached the front fender.

We ran into an unexpected snag, the new fender design on these bikes won't allow for a 21" front wheel and aren't design for the simple mounting hole enlargement we've previously done, sooo after making some calls to PM Tech Support (no help) and around the industry my friend Lonny Spiva from Renegade Wheels hooked me up with Hawg Halters who have designed and produced a bracket to lift the new style fender so it will accept the larger diameter wheel. The bracket should be here the middle of next week so tomorrow the bike will be up on the handy lift and I'll start some modding.  :2vrolijk_21:

If anyone else runs into the same issue with a 2013 model the new Hawg Halter part number is FSK - C07 for chrome or FSK - A07 for black. They have similar brackets for other years as well but the actual part number will differ so I recommend you call them.

Congratulations! I must say the color just seems to be getting better and better! I knew from just pictures that it was it. And I must say that seeing it after delivery I was not disapointed in any way! It's the first Harley I bought without seeing one first and now might do it again. Thanks for giving mine credit! I really love riding mine and really enjoy the stunning color. May you have the same experiences as I have had.

Thank you to everyone for the kind words and support!  :2vrolijk_21:

Been out in the garage today doing some tweaking:

- Performance Machine +1 kickstand to correct the lean angle when running a 21' up front.
- Speaking of PM wheels 21/17 Heathens were swapped over by the dealer so I just had to add the Paul Yaffe crown valve stem caps....lol
- Also swapped over the Paul Yaffee "yaxle" from my last bike.
- Added the smoked gray Paneca taillight and turn signals on the back end.
- Got rid of the "pita" grab strap.
- Added the connection needed for use with heated gear.
- Replaced the windshield with a Klockwerks 8.5".
- Added the Inspection sticker plate....no way they were putting on the front forks.
- Installed the Indicator Lights chrome bezel.

More to come along the way.... hopefully I'll have some photo's up by the end of the week.
