Check engine light
« on: September 04, 2006, 07:52:26 PM »

My 07' SE Ultra has only 200 miles on it and today I noticed that when I got on it a little the check engine light would come on.  If I slowed down for about 30 seconds it would go off.  The bike is going in for service on the 11th was wondering 1. do you think it's safe to drive the bike like this?  2. has this happened to anyone else?  [smiley=confused5.gif]

Well, its pretty much a given that on a new stock bike you can ride it and if it breaks the moco has to fix it. Nevertheless, your description of the problem suggests it is nothing too serious. Yes I think you can ride it. You might want to try the procedure in this link http://www.harleyhog.co.uk/0405troublecodes.htm

Well I just did the diagnostic test on it and the code P1356 Rear Cylinder No Combustion EFI came up.  That doesen't sound too good to me I think I'll park it and let them come and pick it up.  That probably explains the lack of grunt when I twist the throttle.

Dozer, one thread per topic, please.  Gets too hard to follow the responses otherwise.  I spliced the one from the CVO General section here.

Thanks!

I would not ride it until getting it looked at. I have the same bike and it has never done that. In addition, I have really been riding the bike hard with no problems all the way up to the 1k service. You may want to check to make sure the plugs are tight and the wires are secure. My last bike had a loose plug wire on the rear cylinder and the CE light did the same thing. After finding the loose plug and fixing it I had no more issues.

I just checked my plug wires and the rear cylinder plug was not snapped on.  All I can say is what a difference in power from before. I then cleared the diagnostic code and rerode the bike. Retested DTC's again and the code was gone. I feel so lucky to be around such helpfull people and thanks again for all your help.

Know that problem well too. Especially when we only have two to work with. Oh, you were talking about the engine. Ya, that's a problem also.
