Chopper build off/Drama fest
« on: December 11, 2012, 10:40:11 PM »

I could not watch this but I did record it so I could check out the finished bikes.

Jr's bike was as good looking as last year if not better.  Really liked his car/hot rod theme.

The show itself is pathetic.

I was glad to see gas monkey at least come in 2nd. their bike is the most down to earth looking example of the four.
as far as the jesse james entry, it was innovative and not a catalog built machine, but his attitude overwhelms his skills as a fabricator so I would have DQ,d him in a heartbeat.
win lose or draw, OCC is out of the limelight now and that's alright by me.

I agree, Gas Monkey walks a thin line of being overboard. But hell, its TV Land.

guppytrash, I haven't watched it yet, but as far as making something out of  nothing Jesse James could do that better than the other guys IMHO. I am not saying I like or dislike him since I only see what is edited anTV version of him, but he did take the time to go to a  foreign country to upgrade his blacksmithing skills, and also he was, according to what I have heard on the discovery channel,  a student of Boyd Coddington as was Chip Foose. If I was going to learn bike building skills from the ground up and I had a choice I would want learn from Jesse James above the other guys. CAHDBIKER

I think the best part of the whole show was the spoof gas monkey did of the teutels ... that almost had me in tears laughing! I personally think Jr's bike was as hokey looking as the rest of the bikes he made & they gave the trophy to the wrong guy. I'm glad its all over now.

I think Juniors bike was okay except for the back of the fenders. They looked like they came off a certain Victory model, I can't think of which one it is. He had the most imagination from a sort of chopper looking point of view. In my opinion Senior and Jesse James were way off base style wise, but their craftsmanship was good. I like Gas Monkey Garage's bike, but hated to see them tear apart that bike. They should have restored it. It would have been worth a lot more that way. JMHO. CAHDBIKER

I really felt like gas monkeys bike was the most reallistic(ridable) bike of the group. Jr's bike was just as sorry as last year. I do not like anything he builds. To goddy. not ridable and to ugly to show. Jessies bike was interesting as was Sr's. I just don't care for crouch rockets. Non of them build a bike that I would spend good money on. Plus if it does not have Harley Davidson on it it has no resale value. I'll stick to what I have over any one of them.

Say what you may about Jesse's attitude but his handcrafted style of bike building still has my vote. If I could have one custom made bike it would be a Jesse James bike.

The Gas guys bike looked like every other stripped down custom I see at all the local bars. Great, the clean up an old bike. I agree Jr's looked like a custom Victory.

The funniest part was that Sr. and Jesse both came up with a sport bike custom.

I sent some time at Jesse's shop in Long Beach. I have spoken to Jesse about his fenders and had him build me one for my bike. I think overall he is an incredible talented individual. I do like him and his cockiness does not bother me. Bravo for him being himself and being able to succeed in the TV world too. I think his sportbike was incredible as well, again what a talented guy, the show did not show enough of the bike for me. The Fast n Loud guys offered T-Shirts for votes on Facebook, this to me is how they where able to get second place. Paul Jr.'s bike in my own opinion was cool, but I did not like the rear fender or the strips of metal around the bottom. The front fork and gas tank on Sr.'s bike was goofy. I want to see a custom bike which can be ridden at least 100 miles non stop. The TV world has seen choppers of all sizes and shapes, so it probably is hard to come up with a new bike, I can understand why two went sportbike. I love my touring bike, I still want to ride wheelies and can't say no to a good Harley sport bike either. Rock on for TV time for bikers, no matter what it is. Drama sells and this brings a lot of drama. There are a lot of bike builders in the country, it would be cool to see another show which honored shops across the country. I wish I could build bikes for a living! I have, but insurance and attorneys brought a reality to me to go back to the normal world of business of making a living.
