I installed the quiet baffles this weekend. It went pretty smoothly. The old baffles were a bit of a bear to remove. I took a hanger, bent it, and then shoved it up there to grab hold of the baffle from within and pull. That seemed to do the trick. After wrapping the packing material with safety wire to compress it, I carefully lined up the baffle screw holes with the pipe so I did not not have to rotate the baffle after insertion. This was a key step as the new baffles did not allow for any rotational adjustment once inserted. I did have to take a novelty wooden baseball bat to serve as a push rod to get the baffle in the last few inches.
I like the sound of the new baffles. They are not exactly quieter, but the tone is richer and lower and more consistent with the throaty growl that I expect from a V-twin. Given the higher decibels of the new pipes, I would have stuck with the stock, which I still have, and just replaced the mufflers with S/E slip-ons. That may have been a good combo.
