Piston with 6CC dome for 110" Engine builders needed on this one
« on: December 17, 2012, 04:16:25 PM »

Im looking for a piston with a 6cc dome for a 110" the reason is i had heads milled .060 to get compression to 9:9 &  heads are 93CC with stock piston last year,  now im wanting to get it up to 10:5. The SE 110 piston would bump it over 11 thats to much compression for me. I need advise on what to do to get compression to 10:5.  A piston with a 6CC dome would put me right on the money with a .040 head gasket i just cant find one at this time. Remember heads have been milled .060

As a last resort you can always get a larger dome piston and have a machine shop remove part of the dome.  Just makes sure how the piston is designed underneath the dome to determine if it can be done with that piston.  They can also get both pistons to the same weight at that time.

I did that lots of times in automotive builds to get the compression where I wanted it.

I have talk to a machine shop about milling some off of the dome  I just need to know what cc dome the SE110 piston have on them, I heard around 11.5cc dome just don't know how accurate that is.

The pistons are 11 cc.
Check crown thickness, and that will let you know how much you can machine off the dome. I don't like to be thinner than .200" after cutting.  ;)

1cc (volume) = 2.8 grams 4032 alloy
Cut and weigh, but measure the dome first. Keep the dome to bottom .200 min for a street motor.
I can't help on these pistons I have used them out of the box only and have not measured or cut them.

Yep. :2vrolijk_21:
.200" is where the dome wall thickness can be pulled down to.
Any machine shop in your area should be able to help with this.
