I ordered the latches and the hinges from my dealer.  I opened a set of black to check for rivets and there were none all torx bolts.. I even asked my parts guy to verify and he stated there are none. We will see after they are installed..

Weird, are you sure you opened the latch box and not the hinge box?

I had him open both the latches and the hinges just to check and I showed him your post and he ran to his computer to check. I will see when they come in. I hope he didnt screw up and mislead me...

I did latches last night and there are no rivets to install. The only rivets involved are the ones that hold the top latch parts to the top of the tour pack and need to be removed. Enlarge the holes as directed in the instructions, as this gives minimal leeway for adjustment making for a perfect fit.

And what did they give you to install the new top hinges? This is where I had the rivets. My instructions also named the PN for the needed rivet gun, weird

I did not do the hinges. I have a set of hinges from elide goodies that are exactly like the ones offered awhile back on this site as a group buy. The hinges also required the removal of a number rivets, but were attached using screws. As for the HD latches that I did Friday, both latches are positioned with two posts that fit into the holes left by the removal of the original rivets. The front latch is held in place by the lock on the tour pack, while the rear latch is held in place by two screws. The screw holes are created using a template included in the kit.     JoeS

Sorry, I mistyped. I meant the latches, not hinges. Only the top catch of the latches had rivets to use instead of screws.

I helped a friend install the latches on his RUSE yesterday and there were no rivets used for the install - only four to drill out to remove the stock top latches.  The bottom latches attached with screws - the holes had to be enlarged.  The top front latch was attached by the lock cylinder - no screws.  The top rear latch required two new holes to be drilled and attached with screws.

I'll see he kept his instruction sheet and if so will post it - or perhaps someone else who has it can do that.

I think I see the reason with this post. I did not buy the latches that cover the lock, look back at the pictures. I bought the regular black latches and then the lock sliding cover. I think this is where the difference is.
