Thought I would ride into Phoenix and get some snacks.... 50 degrees when I took off, arrived 55 miles later...most stores closed
today because of xmas... on the way home (with heated gear on ) it is now 35 degrees but the heated gear makes it fine.

Hope everyone got to ride today...  :)

Maybe next year!!

Posting this for one of my Brothers up here... some time ago, his eldest son got him a fixer up Dyna for his Birthday... which happens to be Christmas Day.  He managed to get it running before the evening fell, and took it out for a nice ride.  This was somewhere in the lower 48 at the time.

He started a family tradition of always managing to take that Dyna out for a ride on his Birthday, Dec 25th.

He's been in Alaska now for some 15-20 years, and still makes his annual ride on that Dyna up to Santa's House in North Pole.

This year it was nearly -10 and quite nice out.

We've barely any snow (about 19" in my yard) and if you keep them upright in the curves, what little patchy ice on the roads can be avoided.  After having several weeks of -20 to -40, all of the ice on the roads have been busted up and blown aside.

Maybe next year I'll get the nerve to join him... but it may be on the wife's sportster, and not the CVO   8)

Rode with about 12 other bikes to MCV Children's Wing to deliver toys for Christmas morning.  We left the dealer at 11:00PM Christmas eve.  Met about 30 other bikes there and carried the boxes of toys upstairs.  The kids got their toys Christmas morning.  Got home about 1:00AM Christmas morning.

I went out for a little ride around the hood just a few miles heat up her oil and celebrate Christmas day with her.
She loved it even when I stooped in front of HD so that her family standing in the picture windows could see her
in all her glory and wish her a very Merry Christmas  ;D

while we had heavy rain on christmas (which did a good job washing away the salt our city had put on the roads in mid december) since 26th it's sunshine every day, temperatures between 35 and 50 F, last snow melted on 24th. Pefect riding conditions in the Elbe valley.

Unfortunately a lady was a little careless yesterday so my season ended a little prematurely:

Not a big thing actually but it will take some time until new bags and fairing will swimm over the pond ...

Sorry to read of your experience and I am pleased that you were not injured.  As you already know it could have been worst for you and in most cases parts can be replaced.  Perhaps you can use the time to conduct any other revisions you were seeking for the bike.

All the best

Fortunately,you are o.k.
Your parts could be in for the beginning of the season.
I wish you all the best for 2013.

Hans, glad you are OK, that picture sure leaves an ugly feeling in your stomach when you look at it. Looks like you have an excuse for some new mods    :bananarock:
