To those that have done them...did you put back the wrap or not? And why?

Yes the exhaust will be a bit quieter that way.  It will also keep the heat away from the outside of the can and help prevent discoloration.

I had Rhineharts on my old SEEG and took the baffles out, wound header wrap around both cores, used hose clamps to hold it on and actually made my bike louder ... I think it stopped the cores from doing their job. I ended up taking it back off.

I talked with Steve at Fulsac about this when I did mine a couple of months ago.  He recommended putting half of the original wrap back in and leave it loose around the baffle that way there is not so much back preassure on the baffle and you still get some noise reduction.  I did what he said and I think it sounds real good.  Only thing I noticed was that while trying to wear a full face helmet one day when it was cold out it echoed in my helmet but if wearing a half helmet or no helmet it is not annoying at all and you can still hear radio at the same level as before.  Really has a nice sound when getting into the throttle but not bad while cruising.  My wife does not like loud things and she said it does not bother her at all.  I should let you know that I also put on his x pipe so that may make a difference also.  Good luck

Well so far what I'm getting is the concession is to put back half the packing back in that may or may not find its way back out anyway....or is it just the way that some are doing it?

on most mufflers I never took it out, no need to disturb the packing to replace baffles, IMHO has a more mellow sound and heat protection for the chrome with Insulation intact

I sent mine to fulsac when I got the bike.  I have no idea about the packing,,  I didn't even ask Steve what he does..   I can tell you all that these pipes sound great and no discoloration anywhere.  Steve!    What did you do?   It's perfect.. :huepfenjump3:

I have the 2.25 SD's I cut the packing in half and used a half for each baffle...better tone
all packing will burn through at some point and it will get louder

I happened to pull mine out just to take a look after about 40K miles.
Not burned out.
Just reinstalled and buttoned it all back up. Never noticed any change in sound but maybe I'm gettin' old?
I'm using this:
Lexx 4-Stroke Silencer Packing
Cheap, easy to install. Got it on 2 of my bikes at this point.

Insulation in the CVOs seems to last forever, Im still using a set of 06 mufflers that I installed fullsac baffles in on the last three bikes, 45,000 mi or so and it is still intact

I did the X pipe, 2" cores, TTS, and no baffle insulation material reinstalled. Sounds great and no discoloration.
