Deuce exhaust question
« on: January 01, 2013, 12:51:11 AM »

Hello All!!
I'm new here and I've got what's probably a dumb question. I've got a 2003 screamin eagle deuce,(the anniversary model). I'm looking to change the exhaust so I ordered the Cobra 3 1/2" slash cut system. I talked to the rep at Cobra before I ordered it and he couldn't find much info on that system because it's been discontinued but he had the mounting instruction sheet which had the models that it fit, and he said it'll fit my year deuce. My question is, would the header pipe mounting be different because it's a 95" screamin eagle and not an 88" motor?
Thanks in advance for any help guys, & gals!!
        Happy New Year to all!!!

There is no difference in head pipe mounting from the 88 inch to the 95"

Thanks HD- Dude!!!! I wasn't sure. I was a little worried about it because I  read about someone with a 110 incher, (it might have even been somewhere on this forum) and he said the header pipe mounting was different. I haven't gotten the pipes yet and won't be able to put them on until spring when they do get here. At least I don't have to worry about them fitting now!! :2vrolijk_21:

I've got a couple more questions. Is it best to use new header pipe gaskets? This is the original exhaust that I'm replacing and I'm guessing that it's never been off of the bike. Also, I don't have a service manual, does anyone know the torque specs for the header pipes? Thanks for the help everyone!!

I owned that bike!!! I loved it. I only did light head work, didn't have SE heads, just regular production ones. I also went 2-1 and a thinner head gasket for a slight bump in tq. I had a 204 cam set.

Thanks RedBone!! I'll pick up a set before the install.

      Hi Pete!!
I really like the bike too. I won't be doing any motor work, at least I'm not planning on it right now. I really don't like the looks of the stock exhaust though and don't like the rear pipe being above the passenger footpeg. The exhaust that I'm putting on is the Cobra deluxe 3 1/2" staggered slash cut. I kind of like the old school look! :2vrolijk_21: It's just personal preference but I think it looks a lot cleaner and more practical than the stock (shot gun? exhaust).

Does 100-120 in/lbs sound right for the header pipe torque specs?
