mackmorrowjr -

I see you are relatively new to the site, welcome.  There is a wealth of information here and everyone is very helpful in sharing their knowledge.

There are several folks that use the Bassani dual system and have had very good results.  There are varying opinions overall as can be expected.  There have been many previous posts on exhausts and I would suggest that you use the Search function located at the top of the page and enter Bassani for a key word and go as far back as you like to view those previous postings.

I gave some serious thought about using the Bassani power curve and reverse megaphones but just couldn't get past that ruptured hernia look on the rear header.  I have seen/heard them and the equal length concept I do like and the sound is nice with a good bark when you want it. I think the megs are just a little on the long side extending past the bags...but that's just my .02 cents.

Below is one thread that has some good information on the Bassanis:
http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1147051568/2#2

Good luck on your exhaust decision.

Never used them myself, BUT, Dave Mackie, one of the  best top end, cam, head porters in the country recommends them to all of his customers who want Max performance out of the top ends he builds for them.

That's all I know

Adios

The only bike I ever heard them on was a 150 hp 156 ft lb Monster S&S motor 01 SERG and it sounded real sweet

also heard:

if you pair the bassani header pipes with thunderheader slip-ons you'll have a true dual setup that can't be beat for performance and sound. the looks would be a personal choice kinda thing.........

That does make sense. Unfortunately some of the best performing pipes are also the most unattractive like the Thunderheader. You cannot keep that pipe clean. It will blue and yellow at the end and sooty at the reververator cone end.

Have also heard that the V&H dual headers with the Bassani Reverse Megaphone mufflers makes for a very potent torque combination for the 103" motors after a SERT with a good dyno tuning session.  I can't substantiate the claim...it's just something I've heard from social events/comments.

PROBABLY MISPELLING IT. THE END CONE OF A THUNDERHEADER IS CALLED A REVERVERATOR OR SOME SUCH STUFF. .YOU KNOW THE SOOTY END OF IT THAT YOU CANT KEEP CLEAN.

mack,

I think they call it an anti-reversion cone.  Yeah, you're right, I've never seen one that didn't look dirty and discolored.

I have them on my 06 and I had them on a 04 Road Glide. Never had any problems.  Love the sound, a little more bassy then Rineharts.  I have them with the Doherty Power Pack and the race tuner and it dynoed at 94 horse power and 101 torque.  If you ride in hot weather a lot, and stop and go traffic, your right leg will get pretty warm.  Overall, great pipes.
