Hi Robert,
I am currious about how do you remove the existing gas guage on the left side of the tank. They normally have a decal that states " Do Not Twist". Does it twist off?
I know there is a wire that there are two wires that run through the tank to the gauge. A Black (ground) and a 12v (Orange) wire that ties to the instrument fuse.
I guess the old one twist off and the new one twist off. I looked at the service manuel and it does not include and info about it. I would conntact the people who make the guage that you want to purchase about  compatability. Good Luck. hope this helps.

I haven't done anything and know nothing! I have my local dealer experienced parts person investigating the LED fuel gauge possibilities. No results yet.
Kuryakyn says their fuel & battery LED will work. However, until someone has told me they did it then I basically don't believe them!
I'm going to wait until my part person says whatever. I was hoping someone on this forum had maybe already made the swap.
Basically, I'm scared to twist anything. I also heard the FXR3 electrical system is very simple and NO LED gauge can work! I simply don't know.
