Looks like wait times for knee replacement surgery in GB is over 100 days average.  Friend of mine here just had both knees replaced.  She had been having problems for some time and braces and therapy were tried with limited success.  Doctor recommended replacements, she elected to do both together, and had them in a week later.

100 day average I'm subprised that soon> I've been kicking it around, knowing how speedy they are here
in the 2 year margen. "But like I've said" once I've seen the doc I'll know more. MAYBE he can pull strings

How did it pan out for your friend is she ok and self mobile ?

Pete, sorry man.  I just read the start of this thread and can't believe you picked up the scooter after dislocating your knee.  Yu da man!

Hope everything works out for you in either the brace or knee replacement route.  I'll put you on the prayer list, brother.

Uh - sh..

Sad news - certainly an experience I don't want to share.

But try to keep - if neccessary protect - your "stock" parts as long as possible. Knee ops are not as easy as some docs may tell you and I personally know 2 people who will never walk without a stick in their lifetime after this surgery was messed up. If you have to go that way pic the surgeon with extreme care.

Good luck for your recovery.

Amen to that.  Just because they have the credentials does not mean they have the skills and some are much better than others.

Didn't know it took that long to get results from a MRI. Good luck with the knee. My wife has had three total knee replacements...WHAT 3, yes the first knee replacement after only six years came loose and was causing her a lot of pain, only fix was replace the replacement. All is well now. Hope it all works out for you.

The medical service hear can work in slow notion. some times it can take up on wards of two weeks
just to see your GP. It's Friday I'll be calling him to find out what the deal is and when I can see him
So that's it for the time being

Well it's Saturday I called the docs office yesterday around 10:00 am. Now this is a good one, the docs receptionist answers the phone "I say" I'm calling in regards to the MRI I had last Saturday, she replies
we only give out MRI information between one and three pm. sorry and hangs up. "WHAT" I could not believe
what had just happened. I called my wife told her what had just took place, the miss says "I'll call them" (oh dear
look out) 5 minits later my miss calls me back. Your MRI has been seen by the doctor you have an appointment
with him at 10:00am. 25 th. of Jan. I said now how did you manage that? She giggled it's a womans thing. :confused5:
Any how that's the up date, you all take care

Well got to see the doc today and got the download of my MRI scan. on my knee, the doc tells me the upper and lower cartilages of the joint have fractures as in are cracked. The lower one has malty fractures, from how I understand it this is why the knee keeps slipping out. Now I've got to go see a knee specialist and see what he's going to do about it. Don't know how long that will take, the doc has put it as an urgent but who knows. Mean while I just keep hobbling along and put up with the pain each time it slips out like 40 times a day (not an exact count) but I'm sure it's not far off. All the best to you all. Lol.

I hope all goes well for you with the knee specialist. I had a total knee replacement last May and I'm doing much better now than before the surgery. As was said, try to pick a good surgeon and you should do fine. In my experience, recovery takes much longer than the doctors would have you believe. So keep that in mind and don't get discouraged if it feels like you're not moving fast enough. Keep us posted on your progress and we'll keep you in our prayers.

Man Pete, sounds like you still have a way to go on the knee replacement. You are still on my and a couple others prayer lists so may God's healing power be on you in this and may He guide you in the way you should go. May he bless the doctors, nurses and staff as this progresses with your replacement and in your healing.
Have a co-worker that had both replaced and is better than new. Keep the faith Pete

Peter, sorry your progress is so slow.  Are you able to ride at all?

I hope your doctor didn't just tell you that you have a cartilage tear, and sent you home.  There are a few things you can do that will keep you more comfortable, and might even prevent you from needing surgery.  >:( >:(

-Get a brace!  If your knee is giving out 40 times daily, you could further damage the cartilage or damage a ligament.

-Take an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen regularly.  Not only will it help the pain, but it will minimize damage to the knee from the body's inflammatory response.

-Cortisone injections might help.

-Ice your knee for 15 minutes every hour if you have swelling/pain, or if you re-injure it.

-There are exercises that can strengthen the knee joint.  Do them religiously (or Paganly, whichever you prefer).  :)

I'm really curious to hear what CVOGirl thinks about her reverse gear that she installed.  CVOGirl, are you out there?

Get better!

it from slipping out as much. Don't know what the knee doc will do? Haven't seen him yet.

And that's a good question man, were is that CVOGirl? Have you tried to PM?

  Thanks Dan
