Keep or Sell Stock parts
« on: January 06, 2013, 09:33:00 AM »

I have a 2013 FLTRXSE2 ANV. Should I keep the stock parts as I do my mods. I have read other threads here. It seams that there are certain Models and years will be more collectible the others. If HD is not going make a RG in 2014 will that make a 2013 more collectible. I wont go back to stock.

Keep the stock parts unless you do not have enough space in store or financial problems :nixweiss:

We will all be dead before a CVO becomes collectible.

If I was to buy a used CVO bike, one with all the stock parts would be worth more to me, than one without.

Absolutely, You wont get 10 cents on a dollar for add ons, none of the Anniversary Bikes has ever reached collector status

IF you were to sell that bike, and I was looking, I would prefer the stock parts on the bike.

Keep them, move them with you to your new house, and wait to sell them after you trade the bike with all the mods on it.  Worked for me.

I'd keep them. Stock parts have little of no value on the open market, because most guys (like you and all of us) replaced stock with mods and even if the bike is damaged, how many will put the stock back on?

I had an attic full of parts from my '04 RK and some from the 11' SERGU, a friend who was without his bike needed some cash to fix it and he sells things on eBay and Craigslist all the time. I did the math when he was done, he received $750 for all the parts and I had done a quick inventory and came up with over $3,800.00 that the parts were worth!

Most everything is gone now, Mike!  Still got the cover, the original exhaust (which will also fit the SERG, though) and one or two odd and ends.  But if I had it to do all over again, I'd let it go as I pulled everything off.  Less stuff to look at, drag around and try to keep organized that way .... And probably would have gotten more for it back in the day.  :2vrolijk_21:

The parts are worth what you can get for them not what they are retail/new.  I don't like clutter so I get ride of them.
