Lowering Bike/Improving Ride
« on: January 08, 2013, 07:30:11 AM »

I know this has been covered a million different times but I'm looking for some advice from others who have already had success making the following changes. I have a 2013 CVO UCEG and want to lower the bike because of short inseam; want to use air shocks so I can lower the bike further when backing it up; and want to fix the front-end dive. Recommendations?

I use Traxxion Dynamics AK-20 forks up front...  http://www.traxxion.com/harley-davidsonmotorcyclessuspensionupgrade.aspx

and

Legend Air Suspension in the rear...  http://legendsuspensions.com/Products.aspx?VMID=4&VIEW=Search

Satisfied with both...   :2vrolijk_21:

!st, lower designed seat!!! What inseam? I just removed Arnott Aldans and got to go with some Progressive 944UT's and that was made possible by getting a different seat, and having a shoe guy give me a 1 1/4" and both of those mods were less than $400 total. I spent $1200 on the Arnott Air Ride system and did the install myself. It worked well, but I really want the best handling bike and the Arnott's were 11 way adjustable compression as well as infinite preload settings with the GoodYear air bags.
I guess the morale of my story is try the easy fixes first if possible EXCEPT for the bottom shock mount relocation blocks, not a good fix. The air systems work pretty well, but there are moving parts,a compressor, airlines, valves and switch/wiring and requires U to adjust as needed.

I agree. SEAT FIRST. Spoke to Mean City but they cannot modify seat. Any other suggested vendors for lowering seat?

The adjustable shocks are great, because if you're riding two-up and doing curves like the dragon you can raise it.  Otherwise, you run the risk of high-siding and raising your rear wheel off the ground in those twisties.  Run lowered when going on straighter roads or just before you want to dismount.  Lowering is not advised under many other conditions.  JMHO... 8)

I run Arnotts/17" wheel in the rear and progressive mono tubes up front with my 21" wheel. It rides great.. Just as good as stock if not better...
