Big bucks for bright lights .. only the individual rider can determine if it's worth the price. My stock lights are bright enough for me.
If you're using the dual element fixture one option to consider short of the several hundred dollars for the HID is to replace your stock bulbs with H9 bulbs. Not quite as good as HID. Much much much better light than stock. And it's only 20 bucks or so for a pair. I think this was Fr8trns original idea but dont' remember for sure know. Whomever came up with that bulb I owe a thanks to. Made a lot of difference for not a lot of money.
One other thing to consider with that dual element fixture. The adjusting base pan is the same piece that is used for the HID. Many (including me) have experienced a problem with that base pan not allowing the light to be adjust up highly enough. If it's down a bit too low your effective illumination suffers considerably and you really don't even notice what you don't have.
It's an easy fix though. Take out the light. Take out the top adjusting screw so you can get the spring out. Take the spring to a grinder and shorten it a full coil or so. Put it all back together and adjust the light where it ought to be. Can make a surprising amount of difference.
