Fullsac input
« on: January 13, 2013, 11:23:03 AM »

I am thinking the fullsac x pipe with the TTS tuner, but what baffles?  Seeking advice here from people who have them.  Had the Vance and Hines hi-outputs on my '09 with a non cat ceramic coated head pipe.  I liked the low tone and the sound level was not too loud for me.  How is the ceramic coating on the fullsac and what do you guys recommend for baffle size?

I installed the x pipe but kept my stock mufflers.  I had Rosa's tune the bike and wow was it perfect.  If you are an HP hound then maybe the mufflers need to go but my bike produced good HP and great torque from 1500 to 5200 RPMs.  The sound is right for me, definitely a great sound as you roll the throttle on but not mind numbing while cruising.

The ceramic coating is very good and the heat difference is very noticeable to your right foot.

The Ceramic coating certainly helps with the heat. I'm using the 1.75" baffles, but you will get responses from riders using all the different sizes and sound is VERY subjective as far as an individuals tolerance so the opinions will vary. My understanding is that the larger the baffle sizes will develop slightly higher power numbers if that's what you're after.

The 1.75" is loud enough for me, nice and mellow at idle with just enough "bark" when I twist the right wrist.

Minimum of 2" which is the same as the factory pipes.  I started with 1.75 and changed them out to 2".  Not that much louder but better HP and torque.  Attached are the Dyno results.

Here is the only DB test I have done.  It was on my 09 Ultra 96" non CVO.

Using the new AMA Standard of 45* angle off the muffler tip and 24" back from the muffler tip.
Now bear in mind I have not had my DB meter calibrated in at least 5 uears so the numbers and no where near accurate for actual db, but still a valid comparison to each other.  The measurements were taken within an hour of each other.

Stock 09 Ultra Mufflers = 96db Idle   99db steady 2000 rpm
CVO Cans with 1 3/4" Fullsac Cores = 94db Idle  97db steady 2000rpm

The auditable difference was the frequency, the CVO Cans with the Fullsac Baffles were a much lower frequency, much more pleaasant to the ears (Tone) thus contributing to the drop the db level.

So this is one data point.

x pipe IS fullsac

there are similar pipes out there - but it appears that others are copies made to get on the band wagon.

I did the 2" cores (FS) first then did the X Pipe (FS).  With just the 2" cores it was just slightly louder than stock, but sounded much better.  I can tell you there is a big difference in sound and loudness once X Pipe was installed.  I did the TTS tune when I installed the X Pipe.  I am very happy with the sound quality and performance, with the added benefit of heat reduction for both me and the bike.  Its the only mod to my bike and I think its a homerun!
