Bikes vs Cars???
« on: January 16, 2013, 03:06:06 PM »

I am curious what others on the forum here think regarding the enjoyment of their Harley vs their sports car (4 wheeled toy)?  I had an 05 Deluxe for a few years and sold it, thinking I would enjoy a Vette with my wife, so we bought an 02 6sp convertible.  Man was I wrong- had a massive case of "seller's remorse" and ended up buying an 07 CVO springer shortly after purchasing the Vette.  The Vette is pretty much driven now by wife (who also owns a Harley) or spends the majority of its time in the garage.  I enjoy driving it, but it doens't even compare to the feel of riding a Harley.  What are your opinions?

Agreed.  Nothing like riding a bike for good times.  I've always said that if I could not ride anymore, I'd buy a Porsche or Corvette.
Not sure that day is near yet.   :2vrolijk_21:

Same here.  The Porsche Boxter looks pretty good to me, but not yet....

The more I get into bikes, the less I'm interested in cars.  I still have a few old ones, but they sit most of the time.  I have a  300C SRT8 for a daily driver and it's quick, makes cool sounds, handles great and gives me my car fix, but it's not the same.  Could've had a few seriously badass cars for what I've spent on Harleys the past 10 or 12 years, but it's hard to imagine having as much fun as I've had with the bikes.

Hell, I got rid of a wife once rather then get rid of my Harley.
10 years of nice peaceful riding, got remarried to a great woman who was riding her own Harley.

the bikes have outlasted my Chevelle SS, my 57 Chevy

when it's nice out,,  I'd rather be on two wheels.

Wife has a 2011 Lexus IS250C - the hardtop convertible  - I get to drive it every now and then. It's a fun car but it's not the same as being on two wheels, even in convertible mode.
Two wheels = twice the enjoyment.

Haven't had a "nice car" in decades. Preferred small suv's, and never thought car vs bike. HOWEVER, just bought an Audi S4 last month during a bout of temporary insanity. If you need to drive a car, it should be one like this. It will never replace the bikes, but driving this car is as fun as driving a car can be. The car is the car and the bike is the bike. Never a dull moment now. Let 'er rip.      JoeS

I'll take my customized Avalanche to work every now and then just to drive it and show it off a bit. I put enough miles on it the last 5 years that I'm good with it. Normally it only sees nice days and truck meets. I never feel lost if I can't ride the bike due to weather as we also have 2 other  Avalanches. One is my winter beater (on the left in this pix) and the other is the wife's DD. ::)

Always have had cars from old Mustangs to 55 BelAir and bikes right along with them. The bikes have always stayed on the road but the cars sometimes sit.  Currently have a project in the garage but on nice days it takes a back seat and time to ride! :2vrolijk_21:

I would sell car, truck, house, wife and anything else before I would give up the bike. I was riding a dirt bike long
before I started driving a car or had a house or a wife.

I have had a bike almost continuously for 41yrs and I am quite sure I cannot live without one.

If I was stateside my daily driver would probably be my 2006 GTO. But since I wouldn't drive it in the snow...and snow is the other season, I'm looking into this new diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee just now being released at the autoshow. Big bucks so who knows. Doubtful the new to me (picked it up this month while home on vacation) 68 Chebbie C3500 would be a good dd. Too many cars already and 4 bikes so I need to reduce the herd a bit. Can't imagine not having a bike to ride. I've had a bike since 1968 in one form or another... would feel naked without one.
