Filling the seat bolt hole when going solo
« on: January 22, 2013, 09:17:09 AM »

Just put a Corbin solo seat on the SERG.  The unused bolt hole in the fender for the stock seat is ugly so I looked around for something to fill the hole.  The plastic plug shown below came from Fastenall & cost 44 cents.  Just curious what some of y'all have used.

I also have the Corbin Classic Solo and Passenger Pillion.  I called the Chrome Billet guy, that makes the Screamin Eagle Emblem, to see if he had any ideas.  The Corbin Pillion attaches to a pointed arrowhead shaped bracket that screws into the fender.  It would be cool if someone would make a designer emblem that would snap over the Corbin bracket for the pillion.  The right design could improve the appearance and save a little time when changing from one up to two up.  Any ideas anyone?

I have seen on Ebay a number of bolts that will fit there, with all sorts of graphics and emblems.

Did your stock seat not have the little chrome button on the underside, or you didnt like it? I used the H-D thumb screw shown above when I was swapping out a pillion every so often.

Nope, no little chrome button.  What does one look like?  Does it screw or just pop in?

Chrome snap in button can be bought at Lowe's or Home Depot.  Just make sure to use a thin O-ring beneath it so it does not scratch paint from vibration over time. I just use the H-D black plastic button that was under the two up seat on my bike when I went solo.

On the FLTRXSE it is inserted in the bottom of the passenger pad and just unscrews to be placed in the fender when the pad is off.  I bought a spare for mine and the parts guys found the part number in the 2012 cvo parts catalog.

Great idea about using that o-ring. Will sort that today on mine....... Along with all the other chores I seem to have put off over the last few days.  :jalapeno:

Harley calls it the "nut cap".  Part #762.    Works great and looks good too.   I found mine under rage stock seat too.

If you would like a clean look without a nub, you can pop off the plastic horseshoe retainer clip and let the screw drop out.  To return it, use a zip tie to fish it back through the hole.  When solo, you'll still have a hole but imo, it looks a whole lot better than a nub.
