Need some help from Tuners
« on: January 23, 2013, 05:59:07 PM »

Started on a 2011 103 trike with Vtune v141 from TTS 157... Setup map using instruction manual and it seemed like I was making some headway.

By the 3rd VTune I noticed the Rear VE was getting extremely high and the front VE was dropping really low. With the map amde from the 3rd VTune I started another data collection and ended up with NO DATA... I checked all the connections and all seems well, but datamaster will not get anything but straight lines for data...

Is this something my dumb*&$ is overlooking?

Don't know why, but it starting collecting data after it cooled down.
I exported the last vtune tables for VE to an excel spreadsheet and attached

Never seen anything like this before; the front VE is dropping radically in the same areas as the rear VEs keep going up...

I reset the decel table, could this be O2s hooked up backwards?

Or injector wires swapped?

update, looks like O2 sensors were switched when exhaust was off to install mufflers.... gotta love those "helper" techs, LOL...

On the late small O2 sensors you just need to remember that Black HAS to be in the rear cylinder.

Hey FS Steve, on another issue; My 2009 Street Glide was delivered with a stage II 103 and I used your 2" baffles and TTS so it runs pretty good. I have the original front pipes (without cat)... It makes enough torque that it will pull a small wheelie hitting second gear WOT, but they had to rebuild my transmission and primary at slightly over 20k miles. I'm considering a slight move upwards on the power/torque curves. Something like 2200 to 5600 ish.

My questions is; would changing the HD headpipe to one of your designs make a noticible difference by itself, or would your reccomended cam swap be necessary to make a noticable difference.

Your Stage II would seem to have cams already. Whats the grind?  The new DX Pipe will boost power everywhere over a non cat stocker.

255 HD cams

I'm no fan of the 255s. Very short intake, early close, all lead to pinging issues out west in the warmer areas where we operate.
I would bump the cam us a little if your looking to round out the power band.
Here's a dyno chart from a 2012 103 with a Sportpipe and Andrews 54s. Plenty of bottom end.
The DX would move the TQ to the left noticeably over the Sportpipe.

Thanks Steve, other than the quick dropoff of the 255 cams, I do love the massive torque early on. But, I have the extended warrenty and the transmission and primary both had to be rebuilt on that extended warrenty. I had purchased the TTS from you and you did my mufflers with 2" cores for my 2009 stage II 103. I used an old copy of the 110 dyno map from you as guide to tune the 103.

With warrenty going soon, I am thinking I will go with the Andrews 54 cams and either the sport pipe or the X-pipe. My 09 headpipe is 48 state free of any cat, but I'm wondering which pipe to go with. Sport Pipe or X-pipe? I have an SE aircleaner and the SE Heavy breather so Probably don't need another air cleaner?

Thanks, Jim
