Plastic whenever I can.  Otherwise no different than when I'm with others.

Thats a question with many answers. To me that all depends on where I am going and how long.  As the years go I think it is getting to be more plastic than cash. Basically I carry cash for the small stuff.

I am sure there are lots of other thoughts on his one. :2vrolijk_21:

One thing to bring is your spare key (on any road trip).  If you are with someone, have them hold it so it is away from your bike.  Sucks if you are on the road and the battery goes dead or you lose your key.

I rarely have more than $20 in my pocket at any given time, as the debit card just makes life easier and I don't end up with a big wad of change in my pocket.

What I pack to travel is another question...

I use a debit card in lieu of cash. if you need a few bucks in your pocket , just hit an ATM. as for clothing, I try to pack all the clothes I need to replace and when you change clothes simply chuck to ones you took off and you're lightening the load thru out the trip thus making room for crap you pick up along the road.

As time goes on I keep fine tuning what to bring.  ATM card eliminates lots of cash.  Plastic is your best option and gives you a detail of what spent and for what.  Relative to clothing, I have slowly converted my underwear to the stuff Under Armor is made of and only take three shorts, three short sleeve T's three riding socks and every other day wash them in the motel sink.  Did I mention that I don't camp, Hampton Inn is the most rustic I get.  After 300 - 400 miles I want a hot shower and a soft bed.  Two pair of jeans, a couple of cotton long sleeve T's, rain gear, leather jacket, heated jacket liner (all year for the heated jacket liner) riding boots, after ride shoes, and so one.  It's a personal thing that each person needs to develop over time.  Don't forget if you forget something you can always buy it and if you take too much UPS it back home, don't lug it for the whole trip.

I usually have less than 40 in cash on me traveling, solo or with others.  Debit and credit cards for me

I always have a spare battery for my key fob

I always have a cell with me when traveling alone.

I have in my fairing glove box a card with emergency contacts and such.

I always have my gun, unless the trip is to Canada.

I also carry water and snacks on the bike.  Should I break down, or get to hot, or what ever I have something to drink and eat.

A small first aid kit.

Then what ever riding gear I need and clothes.

X 2 on always carring cash!

Cards may get defective or may not be accepted for technical of various other reasons (experienced that several times myself). They are nice, comparatively safe but not the last resort, especially If you travel outsides the US.

I never leave the house without at least 500 € in cash in my pockets just in case - even if it's just for 5 minutes. And never without cellphone of course  ;)

I take $50 if just me, or $100 for both of us per the number of days we will be gone. I rarely keep more than a couple of hundred on me at a time, and stash the rest on the bike somewhere. A lot of the off the beaten path places only take cash.

Traveled all over the USA, Canada, and parts of Europe, never found a spot that I couldn't us plastic or plastic not preferred.  Carrying lots of cash is really not necessary today.  Have a back up credit card just in case.  But, everyone to his own.  What works for one is not necessarily good for another.   :)
