No Spark...any ideas?
« on: February 03, 2013, 11:08:05 AM »

Yesterday I pulled the tank, exhaust, rocker covers and cam chest.
Replaced the rockers with rollers, adj. Pushrods and cams.  I put it back together and now it won't start!
Tuner is tts, fullsac d pipe and 2.25 cores.
It turns over and from that, there are no strange noises or nothing that sounds mechanically wrong.
Just no spark.
I have went back over any conections I may have disturbed to no avail.
Its not a huge deal to flat bed it over to a local tuner or the Dealer, but the biggest thing is I hate to admit defeat!
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Have you checked the DTC codes?

I also did fluids yesterday and am wondering if I may have tampered with the crankshaft sensor when I replaced the oil filter.  If I did happen to hit it or disturb it, I can't imagine it would be so fragile.

You're sure it's no spark?
Might be the adjustable pushrods are adjusted to tight, if the valves can't fully close there will be no/low compression and the engine will not fire. It will act just like there is no spark, meaning it will crank, and crank, and crank, but not start. Another sign of this would be if it seems to cranking over faster than usual.

Thanks Phato1.
I am going to do that here in a little bit.
SE adjustable, 2 1/2 complete turns like it says.  I'll double check though.

Not the pushrods....

How did you determine that?  A compression test?

Is it possible your rocker box lids are not clearanced sufficiently for your new roller rocker arms, not allowing the valves to close completely?

Just because I always start with the simple stuff and always check the last things messed with....

100% sure you plugged the fuel pump connector in (fully)?

I re adjusted the pushrods again.
Got them to the base circle on the rear.  Loosened waited for a few min.  Found base and tightened down two turns instead of thr two and a half suggested.  Waited 10 min until the lifters bled down, made sure I could turn them and then rotated the wheel to find base on the front.
Thats the only way I know to do it.  If you have a different way I'll try it!
Gonna watch the video on the codes.  Thanks!

Ok.  Do you hear the fuel pump run and the fuel system pressurize when you turn the switch on?  There are a couple of other things that could keep the fuel off.  Do the spark plugs smell of fuel after you've been trying to start it for a bit?

Yes to both.
The plugs smell like fuel and the pump is audible.
