Air Ride Suspension on my 2013 CVO Road Glide Custom
« on: February 04, 2013, 08:29:09 PM »

Ok I love the ride of my Stock 2013 CVO Road Glide Custom but my Girlfriend says its to stiff for her and wants me to change it if she is going to ride on the back, Boy will I miss her LOL. Actually I'm looking into the Legend Air Ride, or Paul Yaffe has the Platinum Air Ride and then there is the Arnott Aldan Air Suspension System so who is running what on your CVO Road Glide and your Impressions before I buy.
I like that the Legend has a lifetime warrantee. I also want to have the most options and comfort for my passenger.

I've run Legend Air suspension since 2007.  Legend rebuilt the shocks once under warranty a year ago at no cost.  Couldn't be happier with them...   :2vrolijk_21:

Have the Anott's, love them. The air pump is much faster than the Legends.

Yes the Arnott has a quicker dump valve which is good for show bikes, but I never dump the air out of my bike.  My bike is setup for riding long distance riding.  I am a huge guy and when i put the old lady and luggage on the bike for a trip I want to make sure I don't bottom out on bumps.  I have had Legends on the last couple bikes and I can pump it up to 160 psi if I wanted.  With all luggage and two people I pump up to about 60 psi and we never bottom out.  I have had one issue before with a shock and no questions asked they sent me a new set of shocks same day.  So if you looking for a great riding shock and hauling a lot of weight I recommend Legends.  If your not hauling alot of weight and want to lower bike every time you park like a show bike you will be good with Arnott since it is cheaper and will give you what you want...show.  Dont get me wrong, my buddies have Arnott on there show bikes and they are cool, but I stick with Legends as it has always worked for me and my riding style. Gear and long distance.

Have Legends on my '11 SERGU now, and had them on my '06 SEUC.  Great customer service, quality product, and infinite load and ride adjustment.  Plus, if you're vertically challenged, it's one of the best ways to lower the bike when needed, like when trying to park, back up, etc.

The newest version has a larger boot for more air volume and IMO, the ride quality has improved.  It was good before, but even better now.

Keep in mind that your bike has a normal height front end, but 12" shocks in the rear instead of 13".  You can stick with the 12" or you can get added ground clearance when needed with the 13" version, plus more overall travel in the suspension.  You'll want to do something to the front forks as well, once you discover how piss poor the HD shocks really were.  It's like riding a different bike.

Arnott also pumps up faster too. By the way, my bike is set to do big mileage and I don't ever expect To win any shows with my SERGU...

If you have the '13 CVO RGC then you have the hydraulic rears with the dial adjuster on the left side under the bag. If the ride is too stiff for your GF then adjust the dampening wit the dial.  I had the same problem on mine. Was going to spend over a grand on air ride rears.  Bought the Progressive monotube for the forks and adjusted the rears and it rides really nice.  I think better than the air rides as I've had those on my Road King.  Air ride is nice for instant adjustability but for dampening and keeping the tire on the road I prefer the hydraulics but you have to adjust them to your weight and riding style.

I had both on my Ultra at different times. Prefer the Arnott Aldans over the Legends. I did have some leaks with the Legends and they replaced once under warranty. I agree with Sharkbiker to keep the stock hydraulic ones rather than the air suspension kit unless you need to lower so your feet will reach the ground.

Do you mean that either choice is possible FL108 or FL708 for a 2013 King (12" rear suspension) ?
So, if I'm right, with 108 you can get more ground clearance and comfort, but you don't get as low as you would with 708 ?

Thanks,
