How come it's OK to use a phone on the plane as long as it belongs to the airlins and cost $10 a call.....

They use satellite to communicate Internet and phone calls, very expensive..  I was on a trip to Seattle a couple weeks ago and it seems to common practice now for everyone to make calls on their cell phone once in flight..
