Can SE air cleaner be run - bare?

on my 2007 ultra/tle Can a SE round air cleaner be run bare? i have a k&n filter on it and it really looks pretty nice "as is" does it NEED the cover? obviously i would run the center screw to plug the hole - but it really looks nice as is. Do i NEED to run a cover?

No, it will be fine open. In fact it will work better without the cover. Just stay out of the rain....
