Good bag that fits on back seat?
« on: February 10, 2013, 12:57:24 PM »

I'm planning a long trip this year and will need extra luggage space. Has anyone figured out a good solution that fits well on the back seat? Also, if you have pics, would love to see them. Thanks.

This is the bag I bought for my trip out west this past summer.  Tons of room and a great back rest.  It's a Saddleman brand.  I can't remember what it cost me or where I bought it.  I just searched the web until I found the best deal.  If you don't have a tourpak I don't believe it would be a good option, but I think if you have the Roadglide Ultra you have the tourpak.

Take a look at the Saddleman BR4100.. See below. Any of the BR models would be excellent.  I use the BR1800.

Will the BR 4100 work behind a Corbin rider backrest?

Here's a pic of the Kuryakyn GranTour Bag.  I got invited to a last minute, 5 day trip 3 years ago, and I found this bag in town, in stock... not a lot of research went into the purchase decision.  Several trips later, include (2) 2,000 milers and I am very happy with this bag.  My only modification was to add a back strap for the haul from the bike to the hotel room.  It's very quick on and off, comes with a lock and a rain bag.  Though about getting something a little bigger, but I really don't need the space.  Last trip was 6 days.  If I had to I could add some extra storage to the bag with the "d" ring attachments or under that cooler on the luggage rack, which really is just there to haul a 12 pack back to the room at the end of the day.  There is a rider and passenger backrest on the bike.

Cowboy, That depends on your Corbin seat and backrest.  The 4100 Dimensions are 18.5" H x 21" W x 19" D.   What is the distance between your tour pak and rider backrest?  I have a Corbin seat and use my BR1800 as my backrest when traveling.

Thanks Greg!  I'll look up the dimensions of the 1800.  I don't have a tour pak relocator yet, so it would be a tight fit for the 4100.

Wow, thanks! The Saddleman bags look perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. Would never have found through general browsing and didn't see though multiple searches. Thanks for the posts. I see Amazon has at 20% off. Think I'll buy this one.

My saddleman severely rubbed the speaker covers . Pull out the plastic insert that holds the shape and cut out the area that touches the speakers. Put back in the bag and problem solved. Also shortened plastic insert 1" on each side and the bag sits perfectly behind my backrest. Fits so good I just set the bag in, and dont even tie it down. It never moves!!!

I see that the Roadready bags are 100% waterproof.  For those of you that travel a lot, is that a product benefit that should be taken into consideration?  The Saddleman looks more functional and looks like it holds more but requires a rain protector.  Thoughts?

Cowboy, the Saddleman bag is really awesome and the rain cover fits perfect.  I've seen that bag go through a downpour and with the rain cover on, it never leaked.  :2vrolijk_21:

here is my bag that I got and used for long trips including a week at Sturgis camping. Never a like of trouble, The rain bag fits perfectly. I never have put it on except to try the fit when I bought this Saddleman. It fits behind my rider backrest, and in front of the rear sissybar to which it slides over and then the straps that tie it up to the bike, are able to be used a lot and not wear out.
It was and is treated like crap and still looks new. Very, Very durable and would gladly pay retail for it.
