US Breakouts grey imports to Australia.
« on: February 11, 2013, 06:58:13 AM »

Well it hasn't taken long since all Breakouts allocated to Aus Dealers have been sold out months ago, that an importer has secured 5 US delivered Breakouts and they are about to land here in Australia. 3 gold and 2 red.

The advert on bikesales.com.au list the bikes having 101kms and a price tag of $45000. That's $2k more then my Ride away (msrp) price.

So much for cheap grey imports then...

So much for protecting the numbers that come into the country!!!
If I was looking to secure a breakout I would put a deposit down now for next years model.
You will be No: 1 on the list for the first one that comes into the country with improvements on the second run.

That's if you can wait though.

HD AUS cannot stop the imports. But you would think they would increase the numbers by a few.

100 to 120 for Australia and New Zealand...

All dealers got 2 but some were lucky and got 3.

Well, they will run-out in the US soon so everyone will have to wait until next year!

As I correctly predicted 5 or 6 months ago , the cNuts of "entrepreneurs" are onto the Breakouts now.

At MORE than Aussie prices too !! Imagine that !!

In 3 years you'll get them out of Japan for SFA , but the "entrepreneurs" will STILL ask " Aussie" money for them.

And they'll be 5HD vin numbered bikes too , and will be harder to spot !!

I've just bought a 2008 CVO Springer for $10K less than the " entrepreneurs" are asking all over bikesales.com.au

I know someone that has a Breakout arriving in March (from a Sydney Dealer) that can no longer keep it as a result of financial / work pressure. What do you think would be the best way to sell it if he is forced to let it go? He obviously doesn't want to cancel the order with the Dealer and lose his deposit.

If he cancels his order he should get the deposit back since the dealer is gonna move the bike one way or another. He could always sell his position in line for that bike.

I don't think it is that easy as Dealers in Australia have taken non-refundable deposits. Surely it would be easy to sell privately if it has less than 50kms on the clock (Dealer to home).

Wow! Non refundable deposits? I had a deposit on one at a dealership in Texas but they were trying to raise the price on me. Once I found a dealer that wasn't gouging me the first dealership gave me the money back.

Dealers obviously realise they are in high demand and therefore make money out of people that are inclined to change their mind. No big deal, he will get what he paid for it back as a private sale.

I don't think there will be another Breakout.....I was under the impression that the only real reason to make the Breakout was because of a lot of leftover Rocker parts.

High sales demand = let's do it again!  I predict at least two more years.  It will be interesting what new paint schemes we'll see in the next 2-3 years.  I hope they do not create a regular, non-CVO model Breakout.  Only the MoCo knows. . .
