Has anyone installed a front lowering kit on an Ultra? I installed one on a 96 Heritage a few years ago - fairly simple - but, of course, there was not a fairing to deal with. Has anyone tackled this?

I removed my lowering kit from my 04. It is very easy to either install or remove they are standard dampening rod (not cartridges). Hope that helps.

Did you have to remove the fairing?

Yes you need to remove the outer fairing, front wheel, fender, the switch panel so you can get to the upper bolts. Then remove each fork leg individually and work on them off the bike.

Is the recommended front lowering kit for SE UC the HD kit or the Progressive kit?

I'd buy dampening rod and springs from an 04 SEEG, they came with lowered suspension from the factory. Several companies make lowring kits. I used a Race Tech kit W/gold emulators for a while but thought the srings where to soft.

Hello....in my '06 I installed the front lowering kit (is different than the previous years) and the low profile rear shocks (standard in '04 & '05)......I liked a lot....the whole bike went down 1".
