?For the Audiophiles

For the discerning audiophiles;

What helmet speakers have the best sound quality? Most volume?

I am planning on going Bluetooth

Have tried many types and found these to be the best - highest quality, loudest - own several pairs. You can buy the speakers separately, think they are about $70/pair.

Wouldn't the Elite series be a better choice?

I plan on sending my Shoei Neotec to J&M for them to install.

So far it looks like J&M - 2    Everybody else - 0

Thanks for the input!

I have the JM Elite in my Shoei and Arai.......  I am not impressed with the sound quality.  Does not sound any better than listening out in open air with fairing speakers.

Way too much money wasted.  My second time testing JM.  Still not impressed in the slightest.

Are you guys saying the J&M stuff is no better than the Harley headsets?  If so, I'll save the $230, or whatever it is.  But that just doesn't seem possible. :nixweiss:

Never bought the Harley stuff so I can't compare.  I was disappointed in the sound quality
after having spent so much money on the  JM Elite speakers.

In my opinion anything J&M stinks! They really don't make a quality product of any type.

Why is it so hard for these companies to make a good quality headset speaker?   I have the Cardo SRC System and their speakers are absolute junk.  I was thinking about the J&M, but after reading this thread, I've ruled them out.  I wonder if there are good speakers that could be exchanged?   Like Sony or Bose?   Any ideas?

I used speakers in the helmets years ago when snowmobiling so  I feel your pain, just wonder why no one here has suggested custom ear molds. It is a hassle because you need an audiologist to make the mold and then send it off to have the speakers put in, however most big bike shows have companies that offer this service. The sound quality and reduction in outside noise is absolutely the best, no wonder why nascar drivers and big rock bands have been using these for years. I have been using them for over 5 years with absolutism no complaints. Helmet of no helmet they work great and surprisingly are legal in most states, (check your state for legality)

I guess only hassle is you have to remember them when pulling your helmet off....

There is a gal in Arizona that is a retired electrical engineer that had a thread on another forum about this subject.  For 30 bucks she will install a jack to plug in stereo ear plugs or ear phones.  I talked to her about splicing in better speakers in the helmet.  She said that she could do it but that there is some kind of coating on the wires that requires a special removal process that the normal dummy like me would probably screw up.  I'm sending her my headset system and she is going to take a look at it and see what she can do.   I've used regular headphones that have excellent quality, I'm just not sure what speaker will fit in there.

I would like more information about these.  Is the sound quality really good?  That might just be googleable!
