Hate to wait at red lights?
« on: September 15, 2006, 04:45:43 PM »

While at Myrtle Beach bike week seemed to catch every red light, and coming off side roads could not get signal to trip. So, I went to the following website:http://www.signalsorcerer.com/install_signalsorcerer.html
Have now used for over 3 months, and found that I can trip 80% of lights here in rural Georgia that i could not trip before. Just an FYI for those who like to ride and not wait at lights!!!! Keep it upright, and remember it is not speed that gets you it is the sudden stops!

I've always wondered about these things. I was told it was just a magnet. Is this what you have or is this thing a high tech dohickie?

I've got one of these: http://www.greenlightstuff.com/trigger.html

I'm using the "original" which is very effective, but now they have a HP (high power) version that's supposed to be even better.

At $14.95, the original GLT is a bit cheaper than the SS-1.

Save yourselves the $15 and the hassle of having the " dohickey " attached to the underside of your bike.

Most everywhere you stop for a light you'll see the circles where the trip sensors are installed in the apshalt. Make sure you're inside one of those circles, put your jiffystand down contacting the road surface and hold it for a couple of seconds and fold it back up. Light turns green and away you go.

At night as you're approaching an intersection, if there's no one around try toggling your high/low beam switch real fast. The strobe sensor in the traffic light will pick that up and change the light. Be advised in some areas ( believe it ot not) some law enforcement would say that this constitutes impersonating an emergency vehicle.

I guess the long and short is answer is yes they are magnets. If you read the website they have an explaination of how it produces an increased electromagnetic field!( if you want to believe it, if not I can tell you it does work especially in rural areas where all lights are on a trip.)

Here's the easy solution

1 - Claim you are of Italian descent

2 -  Shoot the red light (if safe to do so and there is no other traffic around - of course...)

3 -  If/when apprehended by the law - see 1.

Works every time  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Cheers

Dave

PS I drilled TP and SB's today but the paint is still drying (complete with flies...)  [smiley=nervous.gif]

The system that works for me 99.9% of the time is to make sure the engine is sitting directly over the line in the pavement where the sensor wire is buried.  If that fails, then revert to UK Dave's item #1.

I've had a green light trigger on my bike for about two years now.

Screw it.  If it stays red too long I just go anyway.  Mine is a rational world that doesn't abide overlong red lights.

We have had a couple of troublesome lights on our normal destination routes.  If you call the DMV folks and let them know what lights are problematic in your neighborhood, they go out and fix them for you.  We normally seem to be leaving in the wee hours of a day, so the run the red light is not the end of the world, but a couple of times before the calls, I had to sit some considerable time to get out of my neighborhood.  Of course those times, were when I had a destination and a short time frame to make it.   [smiley=sauer005.gif]

Now, lets talk about the neat little electronic device that many of our emergency vehicles have...illegal for us peons but if you really want every light to turn green for you...
