Rear Fender Paint Under Seat
« on: September 16, 2006, 09:13:38 PM »

Anyone have problems with the seat bottom wearing through the paint?

I noticed 2 spots that did not have protective tape and the seat wore through the paint.
The tape in the picture is what I just recently put on over the worn spots so that it didn't start to rust.
I am meeting with the HD Rep. on Thursday to discuss this and my tourpak.

My '04 SEEG did that, but I caught it early when it was basically just a scuff.  I polished it out and then put contact paper over that area, much like what your photo shows you did.

I doubt if the rep. will be too sympathetic with you on this area since it is not seen under normal circumstances, but I guess you never know unless you ask.

I hope you get the paint and tourpack problems corrected with your rep..  I could live with the fender but that's me.  The tech could mess something up worse changing out a rear fender.  I'm not being smart, but it's amazing to me that a $900 seat has it's cover stapled on.  I guess a Corbin dual tour I just ordered at $900 is a bargain.   [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I am going to complain about the seat also. You see a lot of those staples are pulling through the leather or some are just pulling out. The staples are so fine of a wire that they are like little razor blades.
