I baught my SE Fatboy at Century Harley Davidson in Medina, Ohio. I paid 1k under MSRP. The bike had been on their showroom for three days. I frequently visited that dealership and had already purchased 3 bikes from them. They brought it to an outdoor event on Friday evening, I told the owner I would be there to work a deal on it on Monday morning. He put the sold sign on it at the event. He gave it to me for 1k under msrp and gave me 20 percent off parts and accessories if they were genuine H-D. He also gave me a coupon book that included alot of freebies like oil changes etc and Two t-shirts.

Those guys there are the best. I live in Charlotte now and my three closest dealers are nothing like the one in Medina, Ohio. If I ever buy another bike I will drive the 700 miles to buy my bike at Century before I pay over MSRP at Carolina Harley in Gastonia or even pay MSRP in the Charlotte H-D. My girl and I were ready to buy a street rod for her at the Charlotte dealer and were blown off as if it was something we couldn't afford or were not serious about buying. I guess they didn't realize we pulled up on a 30k Harley and had no idea that we have probably spent close to 100k on Harleys and accessories in the past two years...........oh well. The bad thing is it put a bad taste in my wifes mouth for H-D altogether and she couldn't be happier with her new Yamaha v-star .........which we baught the same day we were ignored at the Charlotte HD dealer with less of the cold hard cash we were ready to plop down on the street rod.

Well I guess we can all agree, some dealers can never get enough dough.  I am curious though.
Does anybody know what kind of profit is available at MSRP?

I recently learned auto dealers have something called "holdback" or a "factor" which can net them one to two thousand dollars if unit sells at factory invoice.
Most of my fellow riders seem to think HD dealers earn 5 to 6 thousand at MSRP.  Don't get me wrong.  I expect everybody to make a profit.  Otherwise they will not stay in business.  But 20 to 25% per unit?

That's the correct profit.  It's lower on cars, but remember, HD dealers don't sell anywhere near the quantity of a car dealer.  I asked the GM of my dealer that I have got to know about the business side.  Of Sales, Service, Parts and Clothes, Sales makes the most profit.

I just talked to a dealer that has a 2007 flhtcuise2 demo, around 2000 miles on, but has been dropped and repaired. They said they would sell for $26000.00.  Said it has been completely repaired with new parts. I think I wil have a look see. What do you all think. Too good to be true , or just a wreck?

I'd check to see what "Demo" means.....was it riden only by the owner.....or was it romped on by every Tom,Dick & Harry in town?

And I'd ask to see the work order for the repairs that were made some minor cosmetics won't scare me off....but if was crashed then I'd most likely pass.

Thanks Fatboy...
Thats good advice to see all the RO's.. I don't really care how it was ridden, other than the crash, as every bike I have had has had the p run out of it and no probs.
I get about 4000 miles out of my rear ME 880's. LOL

It will e interesting to see.

Also with all the knowlegable foks here ,what sould I get for this bike with 10000 miles?  And no it has not been dropped or scratched in any way.

Be honest I know it won't be what I want...

Dynoed at 101/103 but no dip...

Thanks in advance for your help.

This all came about today as it was slow at work and I was playing on the computer, my head is starting to hurt..

Very very NICE!

My guess is you should be able to get mid-low $20's on the used bike market today.

No noticeable fluids running out it either!  :2vrolijk_21:  :huepfenlol2:

I'm new here, and have been reading a lot of posts. Either I missed it, or it isn't posted: How much is MSRP on a '07 FXDSE? Is 24,595 too much to pay?

Dyna,
Welcome to the site...You're invited to go to the New Member section and introduce yourself to the group.  $24,595, is actually under the MSRP of $24,995 + shipping, so that is a good price.   Depending on who you talk to in this forum, you'll get varying opinions on what you should pay for a CVO motorcycle.  Dealer's prices vary from the ones that sell under MSRP to those that will gouge you for $8000-$10000 over MSRP.  Good luck in your purchase and make sure you post pics of your ride when you get it.
