Questions for anyone with an 07 ?
« on: September 17, 2006, 05:16:30 PM »

Anyone out there with an 07. Either SEUC or regular production ?
Two questions.
A) Is your trans loud when shifting ?
B) Are you getting a lot of heat from the right side rear exhaust pipe ?

The shifting of the transmission is quieting down some after 500 miles.  As for the heat on the right underside of my thigh it can get very hot.  I would advise you to never where shorts or you will get burned.

I'll keep my ears open on the shifting. I'm past 500 miles already

I'd wanted to leave the exhaust alone, but it looks like as soon as Reinhart makes an 07 compatible exhaust I'm there. That's way too hot for my wife back there.

Would these things help?  I don't have them but have heard favorable reports from several who do.

A lot cheaper than a set of exhaust.

Actually Don, the heat seems to run down the entire length of the rear head pipe. When my wife mentioned it today, I put my hand down below her thigh and it (the pipe you perv) felt as hot near the trans as near the exhaust port. I can't see anyway around it except to eliminate that pipe which is what the true-dual systems do. Funny though I was running stock head pipes with Hooker slip-ons on the 03 SERK which preceeded Elvis and I never had an issue with it.

Some people with 96" 07's have stated there front pipe glows red.  Once they richened them up with a tuner, they ran better and cooled down.

Thank you !

Ok, now understand better where the heat you're speaking of is felt from too.  THAT heat, the more opened view and the easier servicing it provides are why I've always liked true duals.  Had them on so many bikes so long now I even forget about what a hassle the crossover pipe can be.

Have an 07 Jester and the trans seems to shift smother than my 04 SEEG, have not noticed any unusual noise except in first where I hear a slight wine upon deceleration but nothing that concerns me.  Also, no feeling of excess heat from the pipes either but I had the bike dyno tuned for the mods (pipes, sert, a/c) before I picked it up.  My dealer mentioned that the 07s are so leaned out for EPA that they may run slightly hot.  In fact when at the dealer last week a guy brought in an 07 road king that the right rear pipe was 2/3,s blued from the heat & thats what sparked the discussion.

I have an 07 SE Sprgr and yes, it seems a little loud and yes it's a little hot too. My rear pipe is blued at least at foot down from the port.
Not overly alarming but I'm paying attention to both.
Interestingly though, it seems a little quieter shifting into Neutral from a stop than my 1997

Well in spite of conflicting advice, I put the muffs that came on my 03 SERK on the new 07 RG today since they're a bit more open than the 07 muffs are. Bike runs good, if anything seems to have a smoother powerband and it also seemed to run a bit cooler. Am going to put an oil cooler on at 1,000 mile checkup on Wednesday and see what that does to the temps.

OK,  today's question. I've always put stage 1 or Doherty breathers on my bike. I was wondering if you can just swap the stock filiter in the stock filter box to a K & N and if so what's the PN ?

Thanks
