Riding your CVO cross country
« on: March 04, 2013, 01:41:49 AM »

Just wondering how these bikes with the 110's handle long trips, planning on Sturgis this year, 1200 miles up 1200 miles back anyone with any experience you have had on long trips with the CVO Harleys let me know if you would how they hold up.  Thanks!

Most CVOs are well suited for long-haul trips.
Just start your planning, - and go for it :-)

Longest trip for me Taylorsville, NC to Boise, ID and back. And can't forget Yellowstone - Glacier loop while there. I was on my SEUC and my son was on his RKC, so I guess standard Harley's do as good. 7460 total.

Well, last year my scoot and I, made it across the country from Philly to Spokane to Sturgis and Back to Philly. And before that , Philly to Daytona and back. Just make sure you keep your oil changed. I changed mine every 3000 miles. The bikes are built to ride. Don't be skeeered!!!!!!! Ride that thing! Enjoy the road, try to get to some of the CVO GTG's and meet some really great folks. If your lucky enough , ya might even find yourself riding to a Ribfest one day................................................................................. :coolblue:.....................Fuzz ................... :drink: :drink: :drink:

My 09 CVO Road Glide did a 5700 mile two week trip to Strurgis, Bear Tooth Pass and such.

My 12 CVO Road glide has been to Key West and Canada the same year.  In fact put 22,325 miles on it in one year.

They are made to tour!

My 13 CVO King is getting ready to head to Daytona then Key West, then Milwaukee for the 110th.

Thanks for all the replies, my 01 ultra classic has made the trip to Sturgis several times without issue.  Come to think of it though I did lose a stater in the charging system coming home through Illinois' in 04.  lucky I bought the extended warranty I made it to the dealership in Urbana Illinois' they could've been nicer took care of me fast, and I was back on the road.

From somebody that has rode ocean to ocean.....they'll do it just fine.  However, 1200 miles is just a little two day ride....only about 1/3 the way across.  Keep going, you'll get to the other side.  :2vrolijk_21:

These CVO's "Were born to Run" and that's what I plan on doing with my '13 SEUC this August. I plan on riding from Custer, Washington to Milwaukee for the 110th, taking Hwy 2 across the top of the country to Minnesota then south to Milwaukee. Plan on coming back thru Sturgis, the bad Lands and such. Should be a 5,000 + mile ride. "It's Not The Destination, IT'S THE RIDE".

Did a 5K mile/10 day ride to Sturgis last year , bike ran like a top . Was concerned once when engine got a little hot in traffic , but it turned out OK . Good maintenance , good tires = good to go .

These things go! I did 2200 in four days, about 13 saddle hours a day. Thats easy to do, and has led to 25k miles in 16 months. Ride, baby Ride!

North Pole, Alaska to Abilene, Texas and back during July of 2012... never missed a beat.  Trip totalled right at 9,000 miles.   8)

I trailered mine to ribfest last year and its only 90 miles away. I brought a bike for Mike and couldn't find any way to ride two at once. That and I'm a yuppie poser.
